It was purchased by a Portuguese businessman intrigued by secret societies like Freemasonry and the Templars. Regaleira was transformed into a palace surrounded by gardens, lakes, caves, and mysterious structures, all symbolic of secret societies and rituals. This unique monument is influenced by Romantic, Neo-Gothic, and Manueline architecture. While in Sintra, you can walk to Quinta da Regaleira, which includes a ticket for a self-guided visit during your stay in Sintra.
