The Park and Palace of Monserrate - Monserrate is a stunning choice to saunter through the gorgeous gardens following the path to the Palace. Dating back to 1540, the history is rich, interesting and varied. The property changed hands multiple times and has gone through periods of total neglect. Currently, the palace and gardens have been totally restored and recovered to the splendor of its former times.

Lovely gardens - We visited as much quieter than other sites in Sintra.The grounds are accessed by a walk down the hill thru the lush gardens .Walk around the palace was interesting . Then a rest at the Cafe before strolling further in gardens before a climb back up the hill. We went to Sintra by uber from Lisbon to the place and returned by a tuk tuk from Palace to Sintra and then train back to Lisbon.

Must-see! - Absolutely beautiful! Going there from the opening, the parking is not large. Shaded garden ideal in good weather but inaccessible to people with reduced mobility. Possibility of breakfast at the Tea House.

Worth a visit - We had a visit to the palace coming in from Lisbon city. Uber ride took us to the gates. Was a bit worried about the walking about with two older people but they managed it, slow and steady. The gardens are just beautiful and the palace itself is just stunning. It wasn’t overcrowded so if you are wanting a stress free day then make this place a visit.

Beautiful: I recommend it - If you like history, architecture, and nature, you can't miss the Monserrat Palace. The palace is incredible. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for the temperature. It was cold in May. Using Uber is very cheap.

A must-see if you go to Sintra - A stunning palace - with lots of well presented information. Probably best to get a tuktuk though - you could be waiting a long time for a bus!

Worth the effort to visit - Well worth the effort of getting to this slightly out-of-the way Palace. In fact more of a mansion. Not that expensive and so much to walk around. Gardens are extensive and the 'Palace' is remarkable. Not what I expected. Have to say there are some steep walks so probably not suited to those with mobility issues. You can spend quite a bit of time there.
