Additional Information

Singapore is renowned for its plethora of street food, with over 113 food markets situated across this small but vibrant city. Visitors often find themselves overwhelmed by the range of cuisine and pricing, and as a result limit themselves to more centrally located markets. However, the city is full of hidden gems, like Chomp Chomp, a local favourite for its seafood.

‘Street food’ or ‘hawker’ in Singapore refers to a diverse range of food available at open-air complexes known as hawker centres, renowned for affordability and variety.

Char kway teow: This is a popular stir-fried noodle dish consisting of flat rice noodles, Chinese sausages, eggs, bean sprouts, and various other ingredients, all stir-fried together over high heat in a large wok.

Satay: These are skewers of grilled meat that have been marinated in a flavourful peanut sauce, commonly prepared with chicken, beef, or mutton.

Ditch the tour and go on your own. - I traversed the bus system for an hour to arrive and wait for this tour to happen. After waiting an additional 45 minutes and contacting the tour operator ( no response ) I explored the Chomp Chomp on my own. This place has delicious and savory delights. For about $20 US I got a Satay sampling with rice ( wanted to lick the sauce bowl was so delicious). I also got some fresh squeezed cane juice with lemon lime and they put these dried plums in that were salty / sweet deliciousness. So after the tour guide being a no show was able to salvage the trip and really enjoyed my experience at Chomp Chomp.
