Highlights
  • Sines - On the Costa Alentejana Sines is an old fishing town best known in Portugal as the birthplace of the explorer Vasco da Gama. His statue stands proudly beside the walls of the castle in which he grew up, and the museum inside recounts the life of this national hero. Now, Sines is making waves as Portugal’s top container port, which is separated from the old quarter in a gigantic industrial enclave along the shore.

It’s a fascinating site if you’re into that sort of thing, as it has a natural underwater trench that allows the largest cargo ships to dock near the shore. Keep going south and the industry melts away, and you’ll come to a scalloped shoreline with little coves and the whitewashed village of Porto Côvo.

A full day in Algarve - A long and wonderful day trip with our guide Carlos. A little stop at Porto Covo, a fishermen village. before to drive to Odeceixe. There, wonderful surprise: on one side the ocean waves, on the other the gentle calm river. Lunch in Sagres at Adega dos Arcos resto. A large choice of fishes fresh fished during the night. Visit of Sagres fortress on Cabo de Vincent, the most south-western point of Europa. On one side the cliffs and the noice of Atlantic Ocean, on the other side, the silence, the calm.... A lot of details told by Carlos. Direction Lagos; the Praia da Dona Ana beach and the unique rock formations carved out by the savage winter storms. A lot of stairs to go down;;;;; This full day trip has been a revelation and a great and wonderful discovery.

A Beautiful Adventure - We had a great tour of the Portuguese coast, Lagos was beautiful, and this trip gave us a real appreciation for how beautiful Portugal is. The lunch was amazing, so simple, sea bass grilled with salt, simple vegetables and rice, not much to look at but it was delicious, even the rice was flavored deliciously. I now compare any fish dish I have ever eaten to this one. Our guide Hugo was one of the nicest guides I have ever had, very helpful, professional and considerate, he made the 11 hour trip a real treat and he's an expert driver as well. One thing I would say is because its a private tour you can customize it, we didn't but I would highly recommend you do, take the time to do a little research and arrange it with them before hand, and you'll get the most of the trip.
