Enjoy a guided 5.5km (3hr) out and back hike in the Nottawasaga Bluffs Prov. Nature Reserve, just off County Road 124, near Devil’s Glen Ski Resort (13km-Creemore/24km-Collingwood/30km-Wasaga Beach).

The start of this trail is lined with apple trees before entering into an area with many moss/fern covered rocks. Upon reaching the Nottawasaga Bluffs caves you will crawl through the Keyhole (1m high arch) that takes you in the spectacular main caves.

Then we pause to take in the epic lookout over, before exploring the Best Caves (long narrow crevices).

Lastly, for those comfortable with a steep descend and an enclosed cave we will explore Freedom Rock (an outcropping that broke off from the Escarpment) and the Tomb (small adjacent cave), both having a series of aphorisms carved into the rock by an unknown 19th century liberal.

Nottawasaga Bluffs vs. Singhampton Caves tours: The Singhampton caves are all open, have taller walls making them more grandeur. The Nottawasaga Bluffs main caves are less numerous, but side caves offer more closed/underground discovery options and a larger lookout point.

What's Included
  • Guided hike through breathtaking landscapes
Additional Information

Our expert local guides, well-acquainted with every major and minor trail in this corner of the Niagara Escarpment, bring a unique ability to customize the route based on your fitness level and interests, such as vistas, caving, visiting Freedom Rock, the Tomb, or simple relaxation while taking in the stunning view.

All guests are taken on an exploration of the major caves of Nottawasaga Bluff, including the Keyhole. From there, guests can either choose to spend an extended break on the lookout, or venture deeper into the Best Caves, Freedom Rock, and the Tomb. Without guidance, navigation through this undermarked corner of the park can be tricky.

Post-hike, we suggest sampling the local cuisine from places like the Mylar & Loretta’s Restaurant, an 1850’s historic building in Singhampton, Giffen’s Country Market in Glen Huron, or pop into one of the numerous cafes, shops, and the Brewery in Creemore.

Nottawasaga Bluffs - We had a fabulous time with Sue out on the trails! She is knowledgeable and makes you feel comfortable with your abilities. We had so much fun exploring lesser known areas of the trail and expansive caves in the area. We got to see some really cool markings and hear some of the history! She was well prepared with headlamps and crampons for all. We look forward to booking with her again!

Great hike exploring caves! - This was an awesome hike and Sue made it such a great experience! Sue arrived early to check out the track conditions before we got there and had gear such as crampons packed so that we could be fully prepared for the hike. We had a lot of fun exploring the area and going into caves/crevasses that we never would have known existed had we gone alone. Thanks Sue for showing us around!

Super cool caves - It was a great hike. Challenging enough for my family but nothing we couldn’t handle. The kids had a lot of questions. It was beautiful and different than other caves we’ve been to in the past. We hope to go again with a picnic for the lookout ! We enjoyed looking at the engravings on the rocks and trying to imagine who would have been there before us a long time ago. Thanks for a great experience !

Exciting family hike to the lookout and caves - What a great family hike ! It was a perfect distance for our family. The views from the lookout are amazing and the caves were very fun and interesting. Sue brought headlamps which we needed in some of the caves. Sue is a great guide she is really passionate about the history and geology in this area. She’s great to be around and kept us all safe as we climbed and crawled ! My kids are excited to go with her again! As am I!

A nice way to spend a Sunday morning! - I met thé tour guide at the entrance to the trail network. She arrived early to make sure that when I pulled up, I knew I was in the right spot. That was a nice touch, as the hike starting point is a little off the beaten path. After the hike began, our tour guide was obviously very knowledgeable about the trail system and that added to the comfort level. But what really made it for me was that my dog was allowed to accompany us!

Amazing Caves Not to be Missed - What an amazing hike we had. I live in the area and this amazing nature is close. But I would have never found the best spots including caves like the Tomb. The Keyhole I might have found, but a great guide telling me about it and telling us to pause and smell the rock. Beautiful - I loved it. Lisa and Sue are super qualified including in their knowledge of the trails, safety and appreciation of nature. I think their mission is so great - people need more nature for the soul and they deliver. I also like that they will tailor a trip to the audience with safety and enjoyment (maybe some calorie burn too!) as key considerations.
