Additional Information

You’ll learn the craft of creating traditional Japanese sweets known as Nerikiri. To begin, I’ll provide a demonstration, after which you’ll be tasked with sculpting three distinct shapes of your own design, resulting in a total of four unique pieces. Nerikiri is elegantly straightforward, comprising white bean paste, shiratama flour, sugar, and water.
Subsequently, we will prepare matcha together.
Our workshop takes place in my residence, offering you a unique glimpse into the daily lives of Japanese people. My home is situated in the trendy Omotesando area, a mere 3-minute walk from the nearest train station. From here, it’s just an 8-minute journey to Harajuku, and a short 10-minute trip to both the Meiji Shrine and Yoyogi Park.
I warmly welcome anyone with a passion for Japanese culture, promising a genuine Japanese experience in the heart of Tokyo.

What a treat!! - Hi Hana! What a wonderful experience! We so appreciated your accommodating our delayed arrival and your willingness to keep our appointment. It was so much fun making the Nerikiri, learning about the tea ceremony and meeting and speaking with you.. We even made it home with half our sweets, the kids just had to eat theirs :). Take care and THANK YOU!!

Great experience and good for families or friends. - Hana was an amazing host! Very patient, great product and instructions. Finished our time off with a traditional tea ceremony including other Japanese sweets and snacks. Hana’s English is very good so we were able to ask lots of questions about Japanese culture as well. I would highly recommend Hana’s class!

Peaceful time making sweets - Hana is a great teacher and very patient. I love how she teach us the basics and then let us be creative with the last piece! After making the sweets, we make some matcha tea and eat some other sweets she so kindly offers. It's a very peaceful and fun experience. I hope I'm able to recreate these sweets in my country ^^

Awesome local experience with a great hostess! - We had a great time with Hana! We’ve taken several of these type classes on vacation and my 13 yo daughter said that she enjoyed this one the most. We made beautiful traditional candy then had a tea ceremony. Hana was very good with our daughter. I would recommend for anyone with tweens who like baking.

Fun and creative activity for all ages with tasty treats and tea ceremony at the end - Thank you so much for a great afternoon of making Japanese sweets! We got to make four sweets total, including one that we got to create ourselves. She was very welcoming and talkative and spoke great English, helping us when we needed it. At the end, she showed us how to make matcha and we enjoyed a variety of traditional Japanese delicacies. Highly recommend for tourists of all ages!
