Additional Information

In 1969, the group known as the Swampers established the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, and it didn’t take long for renowned recording artists from around the globe to seek them out for their unique sound that made a lasting impact on American music. Thanks to the benefaction from Beats Electronics, this legendary studio has been meticulously refurbished. With its vintage gear in the upstairs control room and the distinct orange carpet in the Swampers’ downstairs party room, the studio is an exact replica of how it appeared during its golden era from 1969 to 1978. Step into the bathroom where Keith Richards perfected Wild Horses, or sit at the piano where Paul Simon composed Kodachrome.

Just go!! - We just completed an almost 2 week trip from our home in NC to Texas to see the solar eclipse. If you ask my husband he will say the highlight of the whole trip was visiting this studio!! So very much history in these walls. Our tour guide (whose name I’ve unfortunately forgotten) was outstanding. He had so many wonderful stories to tell about “the Swampers” and all the artists who recorded there. We had toured the Fame studio earlier in the morning and it seemed the right order to see things. Well worth your time!

This is a must see for the music lovers. - We saw a documentary about this location and found it very interesting. So we planned a stop in to see it in person. We went on a tour with about 10 people and the guide. The guide was very informative about the history of the facility and answered every question that was asked of him. It’s amazing what all took place in this tiny facility. They have it set up just as it was way back when. You actually stand in between all the equipment as the guide speaks. If you enjoy music and some of the history of it you need to take a couple hours and spend it here.
