If you prefer a more leisurely approach, consider taking a camel ride to the initial 700 steps. As the sun ascends fully into the sky, it will be time to wrap up your expedition and make your way back to Sharm el Sheikh in the comfort of your car.
- Saint Catherine - After descending from Mount Sinai, you will rendezvous with your guide at the monastery’s entrance. From there, your guide will lead you to explore the Transfiguration Church, the Burning Bush, and Moses’ Well before arranging your return to your Sharm el-Sheikh hotel. It’s important to note that due to COVID-19 restrictions, the monastery has reduced the number of days it is accessible to visitors.

You will climb to the pinnacle, which stands at 7,497 feet (2,285 meters), just as the sky begins to brighten. Observe the day’s initial light softly disclosing the sacred structures atop the mountain, including a chapel and a mosque, before you begin your descent towards the Monastery of St. Catherine, built in the 6th century and known for its historical importance as the purported site of Moses’s encounter with the Burning Bush.

Lovely view - would probably opt for different operator - This was a fun adventure but my trip was slightly soured by the tour operator - they advertise tourist fees of 6 euros which I tried to pay exact but on the day the operator said he could not accept coins and so took 10 euros from me with no change. With no alternative way offered to pay this seemed unfair but I did not want to argue (esp as a solo female traveller) over 4 euros - this did however start the trip off badly as I was asked for this money about 10 minutes after entering the van. As such I did not tip the operator, but I did tip our Bedouin guide who was very helpful - the trip itself is beautiful (the views sell themself), and not too strenuous for people of moderate fitness; I would recommend the trip but perhaps via a different operator if you want to avoid the fees scam.
