Jeongbang Waterfall - This iconic waterfall on Jeju Island is the only one in Asia that cascades directly into the sea. Visitors can enjoy dipping their feet in the water. The rock wall of Jeongbang Falls features the Chinese characters “Seobulgwacha.” Legend has it that an envoy of Jin Si-hwang visited Yeongju Mountain (now Hallasan Mountain) in Jeju Island to find “Bulocho” and engraved words on the rock wall, but a typhoon broke the rock. Jeongbang Falls is surrounded by many rocks, so visitors should tread carefully. While descending the stairs is easy, ascending can be challenging. This natural wonder is the only waterfall in Asia that flows into the sea, and when the sun shines, rainbows often appear, enhancing its beauty.

Oedolgae - Oedolgae Rock (Lonely Rock)
Oedolgae is steeped in a poignant love legend. In a seaside village in Seogwipo-si, a couple lived with their child. One day, the father went fishing but was caught in a storm, and his boat capsized. He never returned, and the mother waited on the beach for decades until she turned to stone. The rock resembles a grandmother carrying a baby. When the father heard the news, he floated ashore and turned into a stone, with his legs submerged in the sea. If you look into the sea behind the grandmother, you can see the grandfather’s feet.
- Daepo Haean Jusangjeolli Cliff - These columnar joints are quadrangular pillars that appear as if they were intricately carved with a sharp knife. They are vertical joints formed in basaltic lava flows due to the contraction of thick lava from a crater cooling rapidly. The hexagonal stone pillars, stacked like stairs, create a natural wonder. The waves crashing against the pillars are a breathtaking sight, and in severe cases, they can soar over 20 meters high. The Jusangjeolli Cliffs along the Jungmun-Daepo Coast are 30 to 40 meters high and about 1 km wide, making them the largest in Korea and designated as Jeju Island Natural Monument No. 443.

Yongmeori Beach - Yongmeori Coast, located at the foot of Sanbangsan Mountain, extends to the coast. It is named Yongmeori Coast because it resembles a dragon’s head entering the sea. Sandstone rocks, layered over tens of millions of years, have been sculpted by waves into a unique cliff. The oyster room, hollowed like a secret chamber by waves, and the wave traces on the rock wall evoke the grandeur of history. The 30-50 meter-long cliffs, curving like a meander, have been featured in commercials and movies.

Yakcheonsa Temple - Jeju lacked a large temple until the grand three-story Daejeokgwangjeon was envisioned. Initially dismissed as fantasy, Monk Hyein believed in the protection of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva and traveled the country to promote temple construction, gaining support from many Buddhists. Before Yakcheonsa was built, the site housed a traditional Jeju thatched house called ‘Yaksuam,’ measuring 59.4㎡ (18 pyeong). As the temple expanded, it was renamed Yakcheonsa (藥川寺). Construction began in 1988, and by 1991, the largest Buddhist temple in the East was taking shape. In 1993, the Vairochana Buddha was enshrined, and in 1996, the Daeungjeon Dedication Ceremony and the Nahanjeon Topping-out Ceremony were held.

Sinchang Windmill Coastal Road - Located on the northwest side of Jeju Island, the Sinchang Windmill Coastal Road features a distinctive offshore wind farm. The white windmills and emerald waters along the winding shoreline exemplify the autumn landscape and eco-friendly electricity generation. This road is one of the most beautiful places to watch the sunset on Jeju, so don’t forget your camera!
An Ecological Experience Center walking course is available along the coastal road. The observation deck midway offers a convenient resting spot with stunning views. Walking along the Sinchang Windmill Coastal Road promises pleasant memories and photo opportunities.

Hyeopjae Beach - Hyeopjae Beach, adjacent to Hallim Park, is 32 km west of Jeju City. The white sandy beach, mixed with shell powder, Biyangdo Island in the front sea, the beautiful cobalt-colored sea, and the dense pine forest create a harmonious and picturesque scene. The beach is about 200 meters long, 60 meters wide, with an average water depth of 1.2 meters and a gentle slope of 3-8 degrees. Its shallow waters and gentle slope make it ideal for families. Various convenient facilities are available, and camping is possible in the pine forest. The southwest coast connects to Geumneung Beach, and locals refer to both as Hyeopjae Beach.
-
Handam Coastal Trail - Handam Beach stretches along the coastline from Aewol-ri Village, at the northwestern edge of Jejudo Island, to Gwakji Gwamul Beach. Jeju Special Self-Governing Province developed this beach in 2001 as part of a coastline improvement plan to offer islanders and tourists diverse ocean experiences. The plan prioritized harmony with the surrounding landscape. A 1.2 km winding trail, paved along the beautiful coastline, allows visitors to enjoy a relaxing walk by the vast blue ocean. In July 2009, Jeju-si designated 31 sites representing Jejudo Island, and Handam Beach was chosen as one of these hidden gems.

Sanbangsan Mountain - 산방산 (Sanbangsan Mountain)
Sanbangsan Mountain is a trachytic tuff lava dome connected to the sedimentary layer of the Yongmeori Coast in Sagye-ri, Andeok-myeon. This bell-shaped tholoid stands tall in the southwest Jeju plains, visible from anywhere in the area. It is encircled by Ilju Road, connecting Moseulpo Port and Hwasun-ri. Well-maintained stairs allow tourists to climb to Sanbanggulsa Grotto on the southern face of Namsa-myeon. To reach the summit, use the trail behind Sanbangsan Mountain leading to Deoksu-ri, Yonghae-dong. -
Suwolbong Peak - The sunset view from this volcanic cone rivals that of Sarabong Volcanic Cone. From the observatory at Suwolbong Peak, visitors can see Chagwido Island, Songaksan Mountain, Dansan Mountain, and Jukdo Island, and even observe Sarabong with binoculars. Suwolbong is associated with the Nokdumul legend, which tells of a brother and sister’s love for their parents. According to the legend, siblings Nokgo and Suwol were collecting 100 herbs to cure their mother’s illness but couldn’t find the last herb, Acanthopanax senticosus. When they learned it grew on Suwolbong Peak’s cliff, Suwol, the sister, climbed the cliff to harvest it.
