Amazing day with the wonderful Pape! - I had an absolutely wonderful day with Pape and our driver Mountaga (hope I’ve spelt his name correctly). The tour itinerary itself was perfect - great pacing and saw all of the main sites on Gorée and in Dakar. In terms of the hosting by Pape, well it was spectacular! He is so knowledgable and goes above and beyond to make his guests comfortable. I can’t recommend this tour enough. Thank you both for an amazing day!

Excellent full day tour of Goree Island & Dakar delivered as promised with Pape a first class guide - Excellent full day tour of Goree Island & Dakar on 20th April 2025. Pape of Visit Senegal was an informative, interesting & knowledgeable guide. A well planned day with pre-paid tickets enabled us to navigate the Easter Sunday crowds with ease. Pape explained the history, architecture & life today in Goree in detail whilst walking us through the cobbled & colourful streets. Pape was warmly greeted & well known throughout the day. A return ferry trip followed a delicious lunch after which we visited the main highlights of Dakar City. I can thoroughly recommend this full day tour with Visit Senegal; Pape was good company & considerate throughout the day, meeting us at the Cruise Port and returning us in good time. We felt completely safe at all times.

Just book it! - Highly recommend. Went as a solo traveler and this tour was one of my highlights. Covered a lot of the best parts of Dakar and Goree island. Your trip to Senegal wouldn’t be the same without it. Lunch was delicious. Get the baobab and hibiscus drink. Pape (my tour guide) was very kind, knowledgeable, attentative and always made sure our group was okay. Recommend 10/10.

Incredible Tour Experience Around Dakar and Gorée Island - We had an amazing time on this private tour around Dakar and Gorée Island. Our guide, Pape, was absolutely exceptional—one of the best we’ve had in all of Africa. He was incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, and what really stood out was how engaging he made the whole experience. Even during the longer drives, he kept things interesting with fascinating facts about the surroundings. It never felt dull, and that’s exactly how a great tour should be. Pape also had a great eye for photography—he knew the best spots for pictures and took some fantastic shots for us. The entire tour was very well organized, from the smooth driving to the delicious food. It was absolutely worth the price for a private tour. What impressed us even more were all the small details that showed how much he cares about his guests. He arrived 30 minutes early to pick us up, helped us exchange money, and even made a stop at the supermarket when we needed something. He was always professional and prepared, going out of his way to make sure everything went smoothly. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Dakar. If you can, request Pape as your guide—you won’t regret it!

The visit to Gorée Island was deeply moving—learning about the transatlantic slave trade while standing in such a symbolic place was incredibly powerful. Back in Dakar, we got to explore local neighborhoods, markets, and key landmarks, which gave a vibrant sense of the city’s energy and diversity. Please note: you don’t enter any mosque during the tour. Everything was well organized and thoughtfully paced. I felt safe, welcomed, and enriched throughout the experience.
