DIVE.IS Meeting Point for Silfra tours - Upon arrival 15 minutes before the start time, you will check in with the guides at the meeting point at Silfra. Once your group of max 6 people has been formed, your guide will give you your drysuit, warm undersuit and snorkeling equipment. Your guide will explain how to use this equipment and how to ensure that you will be warm and comfortable during your tour. You can change in our heated Changing Van and the guide will help you with putting all the gear on. We recommend wearing long underwear and thick socks.
Your guide will brief you on Silfra and safety as well as information about Thingvellir national park, the tectonic plates and the continents. The briefing and gearing up takes approx 1 hour.
You will walk 5 minutes to Silfra and start your 30 - 45 minute snorkeling tour of Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral, and Silfra Lagoon.
After snorkeling in the cold water, we warm you up with hot cocoa and cookies. This is your chance to chat with your guide, ask any questions you might have and take a look at the pics taken during the tour.

Embark on a snorkeling adventure of a lifetime at the Silfra fissure!
Drift between the continents inside two tectonic plates, witnessing the world’s clearest water (with a visibility exceeding 100m), and the enchanting hues of the submerged universe.
You don’t have to be a licensed diver to witness such clarity! Snorkeling at Silfra caters to all who have a comfort level with water and can swim. This activity is family-friendly and recommended for individuals aged 12 and above.
The snorkeling tour at Silfra is conducted in a dry suit that keeps you warm and dry while you swim in the icy, transparent waters.
Silfra lies within Thingvellir National Park, recognized by Unesco as a heritage site. This exquisite park ranks amongst the marvels on the well-known Golden circle route.
- All participants will need to fill out a medical form before participating in the tour. The form can be filled out online
- All participant’s height, weight and age information must be provided to local operator to ensure they bring the best fitting drysuit. The tour operator will contact you after booking to ask for this information.
- IMPORTANT - Participants over 60 years of age must have their doctor sign the approval form in order to participate
- Drysuits are worn over your own clothing. We recommend wearing long thermal underwear and thick wool socks as a base layer under the dry suit
- Minimum height is 4ft 11in (150cm). Minimum weight is 100lbs (45kg).
- Maximum height and weight is 6ft7in (200cm) and 264lbs (120kg).
- Participants must be comfortable in water and able to swim, physically fit and healthy
- Please note that that dry suits can sometimes feel quite tight and constricting
- All participants must be able to communicate in English
- Not suitable for pregnant women
- All participants must be at least 12 years old
Location
DIVE.IS Meeting Point for Silfra tours
After you have entered Thingvellir National Park, turn onto road #361. Stay on this road for a few minutes and take the 3rd right where you will see the Silfra car park with our company vans. Drive a little further to parking lot P5 to park and walk back to meet our guides.

Once in a Lifetime Experience - Anna was such an amazing guide. She is very knowledgeable and made everything fun. I’ve never been in a dry suit before but the process was made so easy. Definitely go for the 8am tour as we had the water all to ourselves.

An incredible experience! - Meeting on location was very easy. We were given Wilmar as our guide and he was absolutely amazing! All throughout the tour he was making our group laugh with his funny jokes. He truly made for a great experience.
For anyone going: DIVE.IS provides you with a very warm layer to wear under the provided dry suit. They have you pack extra clothes in case your suit leaks a bit, which mine did, but it wasn't noticeable until I had taken the suit completely off and felt my arm. After the tour, Wilmar gave us hot chocolate and cookies. Instead of running off he stayed to chat with us which was nice. What a great experience and I'd certainly do it again!

A surreal experience - This is a must try experience if you’re a fan of such activities. Absolutely surreal. Our guide Filip was extremely helpful.
Also if you’re worried about the cold water don’t be. While the water temp can be between 2-4°C, the dry suits will keep you protected all the time not allowing any water to get inside. They provide top notch equipment to keep you dry throughout the 30 minute activity. You might just feel cold water on your palms and area around your lips but you’ll get used to it in like 5-7 minutes. 10/10 to the team.

Great experience, great guide! - this experience was amazing! We had amazing weather, sunny and clear but the guide Quim was even better! He was so funny and kept things light but was also a very good teacher. He made this experience great and a very fun one! Would definitely go again!🤩 the time spent in water was around like 40min maybe and afterwards we got hot chocolate and cookies to warm up.
This experience couldn’t have been better!
We also got amazing photos of ourselves and of Silfra that our guide took for us, which was so funny to go through😅

Awesome! A must do! - Gabe was awesome, very caring, funny and helpful. There were 5 of us so we went together as a small group. It was well done in terms of getting us all ready and the snorkeling was amazing. Of the top things we did in the 12 days we were in Iceland. I highly recommend this adventure!

Amazing Family Memories - Let’s start by saying we were late!! I was for sure thinking we lost our money and time . Dive.IS not only told us they could book us later but they actually waited for us. We were able to make it. Our tour guide Filip was beyond amazing. He was knowledgeable and patient with all our questions and concerns. He was gentle when working with our kids and pulling on and off those u comfortable suits. I cannot recommend this company and Filip enough. They were amazing. Thank you Filip for making this such a memorable experience!!!

Nice snorkeling trip - We had a great day while snorkeling at silfra. Boris was a great and very experienced guide. He gave as very clear instructions und did everything for us. From getting us in our suits over the excellent security briefing to guiding us savely through the experience.
