Additional Information

Delve into the immaculate, transparent waters of Silfra, submerging between two continental plates.

Silfra, a geologic fault, was formed by the shifting of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

The glacial water that fills the Silfra fissure has undergone decades of purification by passing through subterranean lava rock, providing visibility for over 100 meters underwater. The aquatic panorama that you witness in Silfra is a unique world sight, an absolute must for any diving bucket list.

The Silfra diving journey is taken in a dry suit, thus ensuring your internal warmth and dryness during the dive.

Your exploration will cover the four primary sections of Silfra - the large crack, Silfra hall, Silfra Cathedral, and the Silfra Lagoon. There will be an opportunity to touch both continents at one point – make sure to capture that moment!

Silfra is nestled in the Thingvellir National Park, a proud member of the Unesco heritage sites. The outstanding park is a part of the globally renowned Golden Circle route.

Beautiful and wondrous experience! - An incredible experience on this earth, most especially for anyone with even a touch of geology nerd in them. James and Kylie made sure we could focus on the experience with wonderment as the primary feeling. It is cold, but the tour is paced so that you are out and drinking hot chocolate before that gets really noticeable.

Scuba Diving in the clearest waters I’ve ever seen - I had always wanted to dive Silfra but I had never been to Iceland, and until recently, I had not been certified to dive in a Dry suit. Enter my guide Lisa. What an amazing young lady and a credit to Dive.is! This dive is not for the feint of heart. The water is very cold (2-4C) and the equipment is bulky and hard to get on and off. Not to mention it’s rental equipment and is unfamiliar. Lisa took me through the dive briefing, she answered all of my questions, patiently I might add, and gave me a very accurate description of what to expect in the cold water. She helped me with my buoyancy adjustments at the beginning of the dive and then throughout as we went. I was slightly awkward as it was my first cold water dive in a dry suit but with Lisa’s help I managed to do ok. Plenty of room for practice but Lisa was very encouraging. I can’t wait to do another one!! The dive itself was stunningly beautiful. The visibility was 100m and the sensation of being in that was remarkable. Thank you Lisa for being so kind and understanding and putting up with me!! I’d also like to give a word of thanks to the young man who helped get me suited up and unsuited. I didn’t catch his name but he had a beard and long brown hair and was wearing a red scarf. Thank you too!!

Dive / Snorkel Review! - My partner booked the snorkel (led by GC), and I booked the dive (led by Asier). After booking, we never needed to reach out to confirm anything as Dive.IS was very communicative throughout he entire process. My partner had never worn a drysuit and was a bit nervous leading up the snorkel. However, GC was a fun/informative presence, and my partner felt totally comfortable throughout donning the drysuit and completing the snorkel. I did the dive with Asier and one other diver, which was nice to be in such a small group. Although I dive a drysuit often in 10-14C, I was not quite sure what to expect given that the water is 1-2C. However, the suit and seals held up, and I was completely dry at the end of the dive. The water is stunningly clear so I didn't even think about the temperature throughout the 40 min dive. Asier checked in on both divers throughout making it a safe and pleasant experience. My hands were a bit cold by the end, but nothing the cookies and hot chocolate provided after the dive couldn't fix.
