Great Tour, Great Guide, Great Experience, well recommended. - We were a group of four today, and our tour to Ávila and Segovia was wonderful. Tim was extremely attentive, polite, and knowledgeable throughout the entire day. He made the experience enjoyable and informative, sharing so many interesting details about the history and culture of both cities. We truly enjoyed the tour and appreciated his professionalism and kindness. Highly recommended!

Best day of our Madrid trip! - This was a wonderful, well-planned tour of Segovia and Ávila! I can't imagine feeling so well taken care of and having such a wonderful time with a bus full of people. One in our group was older and Andres made it very natural for her to rest while climbing the stairs by the aquaduct. Even at lunch, Andres picked a place with local cuisine that we could choose to try or not. He also had plenty of information, stories and anecdotes to add to our experience - making sure everyone felt included. Every step felt well thought out and the whole day was so memorable. It is well worth the extra money for the small group. I would definitely use them again!

The Sights Are Incredible. Andreas Makes Them Unforgettable. Book It. - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you've ever suffered through a bloated group tour — sardined onto a bus, straining to hear a guide three rows ahead, rushed past the very things you came to see — then you owe it to yourself to experience what a truly small, intimate tour feels like. Andreas showed me.
This day trip to Segovia and Ávila was, simply put, one of the best travel days I've had in Spain. From the moment we set off, it was clear this was a completely different animal. Our small group meant we could actually move at a human pace, linger where we wanted, ask questions without holding up 40 people, and feel like we were exploring with a knowledgeable friend rather than being herded through a checklist.
And Andreas — where do I start? The man is a gem. His knowledge of both cities is extraordinary, spanning architecture, history, legends, and the kind of local detail you simply won't find in any guidebook. But what sets him apart is his genuine enthusiasm and his instinct for what you actually want from a day like this. He was attentive, charming, and quietly determined to make every moment as good as it could possibly be. You never felt rushed. You never felt like a number.
Segovia's Roman aqueduct and the Alcázar are jaw-dropping — but experiencing them with someone who can bring centuries of context to life, and without a crowd of strangers closing in on all sides, is something else entirely. Ávila's medieval walls, glowing golden in the afternoon light, felt like a place out of time. We actually had time to feel it.
I have taken tours all over the world. Large ones, medium ones, supposedly "small" ones that weren't really small. I am done with all of them. Andreas has permanently and irreversibly spoiled me. If the group isn't severely limited in size, I'm not interested.
Book this. You will not regret a single minute of it.

Comprehensive, easy to walk tour, personable guide - A very comprehensive, easy to walk tour suitable for guests with elderly members and minor disabilities. Our small group of 8 adults (consisting of my family of 6 and 2 others) had an age range of 40-75. 2 members had walking difficulties, but our guide Tim was extremely personable, charismatic, patient and experienced, knowing how to engage different members of the group while pacing the tour (including rest stops!) to make it enjoyable for everyone.
We covered Segovia and Avila, starting close to 9am and returning around 630pm. The vehicle was a little cramped for 8 adults, so larger groups close to that number may want to consider just booking out the entire trip (max 8). Tim was nonetheless able to manage the group which had varied physical capabilities and expectations, allowing us all to have a good experience. He was open and honest in his recommendations, always willing to answer questions and keeping us entertained during any downtime. Highly recommend his services.

Comprehensive tour of Segovia - We booked the Segovia and Avila full day tour. We had a full group of 8. There was a reasonable amount of room in the back two rows of the van but it may have been a little tight for the two people sitting in front. Our tour guide Tim, gave a very comprehensive tour of Segovia and put in a lot of effort to make the day as fun as possible to see for the group. There’s not quite as much to see in Avila, but overall it was a great day. Segovia is a must see if you are in Madrid.

Toledo good, Avila not that exciting! - Guide Tim was a spectacular person and very accommodating. However, more details about what we were seeing and more general information about the historical/social of the area were missing. The bus was relatively uncomfortable so I suggest going perhaps in a larger group.

Segovia Avila Tour - Tim was a very gracious and friendly host but the Tour was disappointing, van arrived half hour late, departed 45” late and arrived in Segovia 1’20” late. Vehicle was totally unacceptable. They do state the two vehicles they use but you don’t know which vehicle you will get, nor if there will only be 4 or 5 people vs 7, nor how incredibly small a Dacia Jogger is. It is entirely unsuitable for 7 adults. My husband is 6’ tall and was in the tiny jump seat in the back me with his knees in his chest unable to move for 2 hours there and in the middle row jump seat for 1.5 hours back. In the back you cant see out to enjoy the countryside. Can’t hear the guide due to road noise. Cant see the features being pointed out. Vehicle should not be used for group tours. This was our 3rd Viator tour in a week and the other two were great so we booked this one with Viator expecting an equal experience.

7 people crammed into a compact TAKE A BUS TOUR, have leg room and a window!!!!!!! - Small car absolutely too tiny for 7 people! The driver Tim was tall but to give passengers room behind him, he had his knees at the dashboard. We had 3 couples luckley all small people or we could not have physically fit. One person rode in the front, there were three in the next row two normal seats and one very uncomfortable jump seat that tipped forward to allow small people to squeeze into a third row with two kid type seats with no leg room. I am 5'4" and had to turn my legs sideways to fit. it was two hours from Madrid to Segovia and people had back/leg cramps from traveling in these positions. Also could not see any of the countryside form the third row. We traveled with very nice people who all offered to take turns in the BAD seats. All were planning to request a partial refund. We did and were denied. We took two Viator tours in Paris the week before and they were super so we thought they must screen companies BUT OBVIOUSLY NOT. Will NOT GO WITH ANOTHER VIATOR TOUR! TAKE A BUS TOUR, have leg room and a window!!!!!!! This car should only be used for a driver and a max of 3 guests.

Uncomfortable Travel and Lack of Knowledge - Our overall grade for this tour is 1.
The positive … Segovia and Avila make for great visits. The Cathedral and Castle in Segovia are must sees. Avila is very quaint - the wall is interesting and the story of Saint Teresa’s life is very moving.
No negatives about where we visited. The negatives are specific to the tour company itself. We’ve taken many tours through Viator. This one, because of the tour company, comes in last place.
First, the meeting point is at one of many gates into Retiro Park and difficult to find. A different meeting point and more detailed directions would be helpful.
Our guide showed up 35 min late, which then set the pace for the entire day. Due to our late departure and traffic, our trip was very late putting us on a dead run the entire day. Finally, the itinerary was never clear to any of us.
The vehicle was very, very uncomfortable. It was a compact SUV with a third row seat and way too small for six adults plus the guide. On top of that, we had to stop for gas before we got out of Madrid.
Our Guide was nice but lacked knowledge and wasn’t fully prepared. He said he was new to Spain and had only been in Madrid for six months. He repeatedly told us he was a tour leader NOT a tour guide. He knew very, very little about the regions that we visited.
We recommend going to Segovia and Avila. However, use a different tour.
