Taste of Pike Place - This tour was fantastic - full of historical insights about Seattle, the region, and the Pike Place Market. We lucked out and got Carolyn all to ourselves! She shared some of the complexities of Seattle’s history including the displacement of indigenous people and the internment of Japanese families during WWII. The focus on local merchants and the tastes were also marvelous. Along the way we enjoyed a delightful chocolate croissant, an excellent grilled cheese sandwich, some Washington state apples, and some smoked garlic pepper salmon. Lou at Hellenika Creamery gave us a rundown of the company’s history and the chemistry behind their amazing gelato! Try the Seattle Fog (Earl Grey flavored) and the 7th Inning Stretch (think CrackerJack caramel corn). Early in our tour Carolyn mentioned Indi Chocolate and the owner, Erin’s commitment to building relationships with the cacao farmers. We shared our interest in the chocolate making process so later in the tour Carolyn took us by Indi. We enjoyed a sample of their hand lotion which Erin says is a favorite among the fish market guys on date nights! The scent of the lotion was amazing. For the coffee fans, we sampled a latte at Victrola, a mocha at Chocolate and Ice Cream Delight, and a French press at Storyville. All were quite good - and we don’t usually prefer coffee! It’s clear that Carolyn has a deep appreciation and affection for the Market and its people. Many of the merchants know her by name and wave or call out a happy greeting. This tour is a great way to enjoy the stories and tastes of the Pike Place Market!

My husband and I are... - My husband and I are local to Seattle but found the market very overwhelming the first time we visited. This tour was fantastic and showed us some of the best food and coffee places in the market. We also learned some history about the market which was very interesting.

Locals in Seattle - My husband and I are locals but wanted to play tourist for the day. We were pleasantly surprised and learned a lot about Pike Place. We tried three different coffees, several different foods and loved all of it. Carolyn was amazing and so knowledgeable! She even gave us some gum to add to the "gum wall." We highly recommend this tour and plan on signing up for another one with Carolyn.

Phenomenal Tour Guide & Even Better Samples - Carolyn was fantastic! She was personable and SUPER knowledgeable about the history of Seattle and the market. The places she selected for us to try from were great. Days later and I’m still dreaming of the smoked salmon and cultured gelato. Definitely recommend booking one of her tours. I will definitely be back for another tour with my girlfriends.
