BRAINS, BRAINS, BRAINS! - Zombies would have been right at home! We visited Brain Fest to geek out on brains and we weren't disappointed! First, there were multiple stations with brain related activities and sometimes, real brains! We saw a real brain dissection where we learned why the term grey matter exists (tho its sort of pinky brown) AND we held a T-rex 3D printed brain-turns out that their small brain packed a powerful ability to smell. Kids loved having printed guides to all of the stations so they could collect stamps along the way and not miss a cool experience. PacSci has a new exhibit, Brainy Bodies, with some very interactive experiences that worked really well with this event. I struggled with one brain interactive until a child about 4 years old showed me the way. I plan to go back and tackle that one when fewer people are watching me...Shout out to PacSci, Allen Institute and University of Washington folks for making Brain Fest 2025 happen. Truly memorable! And folks, you only get one brain so wear those helmets!

Great place for kids - This place is great! This is a must stop place for our daughter! She is 4 this year and she had a blast here at the science center! There’s plenty to do in there and she loves the toddler section! This place is great for all ages and depends on the age of the child, there’s plenty to explore for all ages! We haven’t tried the movies but will definitely love to try them when my daughter is a little bigger!

A day well spent - This was a day well spent. Based on all there was to do, I knew it was going to be an all day visit, which it was. It is a museum for children (I wasn't sure if it was also going to be an adult museum, but it was really for kids). My 7 year old loved it. I thought that the actual museum was just ok -- it wasn't super large. But all the add ons made it super special (the planetarium, the laser show, and the IMAX, all of which we did). While the planetarium and laser show are included with the tickets, you have to reserve them when you get your tickets. So it's important to either buy your tickets in advance (I think the planetarium can't be reserved in advance before the day of but I'm not sure, we bought our tickets in person the morning of) or arrive early day of. Sure enough, some of the things were full by noon and I was glad we started early. It's a full day to get in an IMAX show (extra cost), the planetarium, and the laser show, which are all timed tickets. The butterfly area is super cool. They had a show of illusions which was super fun. There's a room of hands on physics things that are super fun for kids. We stayed until they closed and we started shortly after they opened. It's a little intense with kids running around, but it's manageable. They do not have a place to eat, so be sure to pack lunches. We didn't have time to leave and get food, so we wound up just eating the snacks I brought. My daughter also caught a cold after being there, which makes sense with all the kids and their germs, so be prepared for some exposures, and perhaps plan the timing in your trip accordingly.

Better for younger kids - We have visited a lot of science centers, and I hate giving lower reviews to a place of learning, but my 12yo son and I were a little disappointed. The general admission ticket only really gets you in to permanent exhibits and a lot of them we've seen in other science centers around the country. We didn't find much to be unique and we didn't find much for teens. We were there maybe 1.5hrs. Geared towards younger kids for sure.

Not good for a solo adult - Very bad for adults. Quite bad planetarium, the exhibits are really basic (more like toddler/young elementary focused) and the laser show really hurt my eyes. I am an adult solo traveler who loves like amusement parks, aquariums, etc. and this was not good for an adult!! Save your money and go elsewhere if you don't have kids.

Old /Not well maintained - If you have visited nice museums, this is Not for you . If your child has not been to a museum before, I guess will be fine. My 4yr was exited about dinosaurs, you are going to be disappointed. Be aware: -parking structure, pricey and tight -gas station around the corner with weird people. You know what I meant regarding safety/drugs -Museum hasn’t been remodeled, most exhibitions are off or broken. No staff around -looks old , needs to be remodeled -expensive for what you are going to see! In 1 hr you already see everything . Spaces are big but exhibitions are small . Lack of inside light, not clean -tide pool have water wash no soap -outside water exhibitions looks like they are stock in early 2000s , rusty, paint less, broken -Butterflies is one of the areas where staff is and extreme clean -3D printing area, have staff around but other than that is like you see everything old Good luck. I don’t recommend this museum. Everyone has own personal perspective. For us, 2 small kids/2 adults around $110, 1hr to complete the visit and we learned more at home than with this visit.
