Excellent all around - Our tour was with Alex, who was enthusiastic, kind, and very knowledgeable. We specifically wanted to see birds, and Alex was able to help us identify a Crested Caraca, Great Curassow, Black-Throated Trogon, and Orange-collared Manakin. We also saw peccaries, two sloths, capuchin monkeys, and coatis. Both Freddy and Alex were wonderful to work with. Highly recommended!

Highly recommended! - On 03.04. my husband and I set off with our guide Freddy. Only we were on the road with him. In this personal tour we were told a lot of interesting things and made aware of one or the other animal as well as told their habits, it was great that Freddy transferred photos from the telescope to my smartphone. Now I have unique and sharp pictures of various animals😀. Thank you so much, Freddy! We were even able to observe a toucan! It's really worth it, be part of it! Highly recommended! Greetings, Anja and Rudi

Excellent Hacienda Baru tour - The tour guide, Freddy, did an excellent job, explaining the flora and fauna, and spotting several animals. In a two hour hike we were able to see agouti, peccary, coati mundi, white face monkeys, and several birds, among others. Great tour and value, and we avoided the crowds in Manuel Antonio.

Authentic, deeply knowledgeable tour of the local ecosystem - Walking around jungle paths with Freddy is a unique and memorable experience. He was born and grew up near the park, so knows the land and animals inside out. He also had worked as a guide for many many years, both here and in Manuel Antonio national park. He told us really interesting details about how the different ant species interact with trees, birds, and fungi and how they shape some of the prominent features of the forest floor. The coolest part was seeing sloths in the canopy. We even saw one with a baby hanging on. We would not have noticed them ourselves - sometimes we couldn't even see them after Freddy pointed to them, but then he would quickly put up his tripod telescope and we got beautiful closeup views. We could also put our phone camera up against the scope and take professional-looking pictures and videos of the sloths or just watch then without having to take turns at the scope. We also saw aguti, wild pigs, and exotic birds. There were no mosquitos, and the shade of the canopy meant that it wasn't as hot as I expected. The path through the forest was flat and an easy 1.5 mile hike. We only saw about 10 other people during the whole tour. Overall a top notch experience and a more natural alternative to the crowds at Manuel Antonio park. Thank you Freddy!

Hacienda Baru Wildlife with Freddy - Had great private tour with Freddy today at Hacienda Baru, a place we really enjoy as it's so quiet and peaceful relative to place like Manual Antonio. Freddy was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and wildlife. A highlight was spending a considerable amount of time watching two separate capuchin monkey troops challenge each other breaking branches and chasing each other over territory. Prior to that we got to watch one of the groups younger members play together. We saw other wildlife and had a fascinating explanation of the functions of different leaf cutter ants as we watched them at work. Freddy is very personable and highly recommend.

Excellent insights into Costa Rican wildlife - This is a must have experience in Costa Rica. I highly reccommend it. You will leave Hacienda Baru tour with a greater understanding and appreciation for the restoration, preservation history and depth of bio-diversity. Freddy is a true proffessional nature guide born and raised in-around Hacienda Baru and he knows the forest and animal routes by heart. No better guide than him. Worth every penny.

Book it - you won’t regret it! - Wow! This was so much more than we expected. Freddy’s tour was very informative and Freddy tried so hard to get us the best sightings and the best photos/videos through the scope. So enjoyable, we saw 4 sloths, monkeys, agoutis, a peccary, an armadillo, a coati, leaf cutter ants, baby iguana as well as lots of interesting birds. There’s no way we would have spotted the majority of the animals on our own. Thank you Freddy!!
