Your morning kicks off with a guided stroll through Bonaventure Cemetery, where you’ll hear the stories of renowned residents including Johnny Mercer, an Academy Award-winning composer, Edward Telfair, Georgia’s initial governor, the philanthropist Mary Telfair, along with fascinating accounts of poet Conrad Aiken and Gracie Watson. The Cemetery tour winds under oaks festooned with moss and along the Wilmington River bluff. Bonaventure Cemetery, established in 1846, stands out as one of the most picturesque burial grounds. Upon completion of the cemetery jaunt, you’re free to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant we highly recommend. Post lunch, your excursion to Wormsloe features a stunning drive down a drive bordered by majestic live oak trees. A brief walk will take you to the 18th Century Plantation Tabby Ruins and then to the museum at the Georgia State Park Historic Site. Wrapping up the day will be a scheduled halt at the renowned Savannah Byrd Cookie Company headquarters where you can shop and taste Byrd’s renowned Cookies.
