Highlights

The adventure begins with a quick jaunt out to our apiary, nestled on the edge of Grand Cayman’s mangrove wetlands. After a brief apiary orientation, you will then don a full beekeeper suit and standard issued apiary gear. The journey continues with a tour of the apiary and surrounding tropical woodland. Every tour offers opportunities for up close wildlife encounters, including native birds, water fowl, iguanas and agouti that inhabit the tropical woodland forests of Grand Cayman. Your professional guide will then lead you through a real inspection of an active beehive. You will get the opportunity to look for the elusive queen bee, spot emerging baby bees, and observe the mysterious inner workings of a living beehive. Before closing the hives you’ll get your own taste of local Cayman honey to take with you!

Do this!!! - Jamaal was really into his bees! It was a really cool experience for us, being used to running away from them! The suits and gloves worked well, and we got a small jar of honey collected right off the comb!! Small groups or a couple should do this, as he is running the whole show himself Also make sure your taxi calls him, a little hard to find, but absolutely great time! Thanks Jamaal!! Jim and Stacy

Unique island tour - Unique experience for sure. Got to see a local honey maker doing his work and got up close and personal with the bees. Would recommend for a quick morning excursion that's not based on water conditions.

Excellent - This was an awesome experience. Jamal is very knowledgeable about the life of bees and beekeeping. We got to use a smoker and a scraper tool. We also got to collect our own small jar of fresh honey. Be prepared to walk through wet fields. You will also wear a bee suit for protection. Fantastic adventure!

Fun and unique - This was a very interesting and unique experience! Jamaal was very nice and very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The suits made us feel very safe. I was nervous beforehand but I was fine. He had cold water for us as well. The location is off a main highway and you immediately see a gate. This is where the guide met us. Do not proceed further towards the red gate. It looks isolated and there isn’t a sign so it can beunsettling. But it is correct. I recommend this tour.

Amazing and awesome learning and participatory bee tour ranks 10/10 - Tucked away in a special area, lays a quaint and exciting tour that left us excited about what we had just a oriented and grateful for the knowledge that was shared with us. Although the idea of visiting with the bees can be discouraging to some, I urge you as someone that no one would have thought I would have done this, to PLEASE do it. Learning about how many factors are involved in beekeeping mixed in with being safely involved, made this tour really an awesome adventure. Many thanks.

Fun and Informative - My boyfriend and I had a great time! Neither of us knew much about bees/beekeeping and were curious to see an apiary. Jamaal was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. Very hands-on experience, and felt very safe in the bee suits provided.

Amazing Hands-On Learning Experience - Definitely a highlight from our Cayman trip. Jamaal was prepared, on-time, and organized. It is a personalized tour with 2-4 people. The bee suits were very clean,, premium and we felt very comfortable during our experience. We felt like we were really helping by checking on the bees and feeding them. The fresh honey-lemonade was amazing! Jamaal was very knowledgeable, answered a ton of questions and had a very pleasant and kind demeanor. Would highly recommend if you are interested in learning how bees help our environment, how they make honey, or if you are looking for something different other than diving or laying on a beach. If you go, a couple of tips: The information is sent out ahead of time, but wear white socks (not black) and sneakers or hiking boots/shoes. You will be wearing leather gloves, so if you want to take photos/videos, you can use Siri/Google or you can set your phone to not lock, open the camera, and use the side buttons to take photos. The walking paths are rocky, so have good footwear. Don’t go by Reagan’s honey on Google. It’s different than the actual site with the bees. You will be emailed the location to go to and directions. It’s located in savannah, Cayman, about 15-25 minutes drive from seven mile beach. Take a taxi or rent a car.

Choose something else - What experience? While I was driving I received a call literally 15 minutes before the tour was to start informing me they “ had a problem” and the tour was being cancelled. I asked if I could reschedule for another day and they said they would call if they had an opening. I never received a call. Don’t plan on this tour especially if you are trying to organize your vacation. Book something else!
