It then proceeds with a comprehensive tour of the active museum positioned within the Grand House, exhibition areas, stamp collections and finally the mesmerizing surrounding landscapes. The location also accommodates a gift shop and a restaurant. Pedro St. James, constructed over two hundred years ago, has served numerous functions such as – a cotton plantation, a courthouse, a prison, a Government Assembly and a restaurant. The government of Cayman Islands procured this property in 1996 and refurbished it to its 18th century splendor. It currently stands as an iconic testament to Cayman’s heritage. Most popularly recognized as the “cradle of democracy in the Cayman Islands,” Pedro St. James takes reverence as the site where the decision to establish the first democratic parliament of the islands was made on December 5, 1831. In a subsequent event on May 3, 1835, the edict concluding slavery in the British Empire was proclaimed from this very site.

Check out Pedro st James - We went on a guided tour with Tricia! She was amazing. If you go try to get her. Funny, informative. We were just going to do the self guided tour, and I am glad we went with a guide.

Ask for Tricia! - We stumbled upon Pedro St James and took a tour with Tricia (ex pat). She was lively, energetic, passionate & super informative. Our tour was very memorable. We even went back in Feb 2024 when visiting the island just to pick up a souvenir and say hi to her!

Five star tour with Marlena - It's a memorable and worthwhile trip. Marlena, our tour guide, took us through the history of the place and she is one of the best tour guides at the historic site. The way she narrates the history takes you back to the 18th century. Pedro St. James National Historic Site.is worth a visit, I recommend all.

Stacey the tour guide and his cat were wonderful. The tour was Amazing and Interactive - Went to Pedro Castle an amazing tourist destination, this May (2023) with my girlfriend, to visit my family in Grand Cayman. Our tour guide Stacey and his cat 🐈 ❤️ toured us around this wonderful attraction. We watched a interactive and interesting movie about the great house and the history of government founded by the family of the house. Stacey is family to the original owners of the house and has great tales and personal information to share. I highly recommend you get him and his cat to provide you a tour! The grounds that the castle sits on also host many weddings militias and has beautiful foliage indigineous to the island. Tell Stacey I sent you!

Historic site that is worth a quick visit. - Beautiful grounds, amazing history, and fun to see. Would recommend the self guided tour as we all thought that would be sufficient. Guided tour goes over how the building was made, not so much the history.

Would not recommend - When you decide to book a tour at Pedro St. James Castle, beware of your guide Patricia. As soon as the tour started, she began talking about how amazing Grand Cayman is (good for you girl!) But, she made it very clear how much she hated every other country that wasn’t the Cayman Islands. She called our home city a trash hole and proceeded to talk poorly about our home and everyone elses. After making everyone in the group uncomfortable, she finally started the tour of the house. By this point, everyone had left and nobody really got to experience the beauty of Pedro St. James Castle.
