Fabulous. A must in Perigord. - Our guide Martin was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Perigord and prehistoric man putting everything in context. The Les caux IV is done extremely well. I highly recommend this tour.

No hassle Lascaux tour from Sarlat. - Very knowledgeable driver/guide shared lots of info about the prehistory of the area. This prepared us for the Lascaux IV tour done by the guide there. Tickets are reserved for the tour so there is no time wasted. We also got to see some of Sarlat which is a charming medieval town.

Speechless. Do not miss this tour. - I was rather speechless after this tour, in a good way! The Lascaux IV museum is not your average museum but rather a technologically exact replica of the 17,000 year old cave found by 4 boys in 1940. On our way there, Maarten took us to several important Troglodyte "villages" or forts, along the Vezere valley, Les Eyries, Le Madeleine, La Roque St.-Christophe, Montignac ending in Lascaux. His commentary about these places was an excellent lead-in to the visit to Lascaux. Why were certain places selected for habitation, what life in such places might have been like. Layers and layers and layers of history. And then, the magnificent cave art! Truly a tour not to be missed while in this area, a once in a lifetime opportunity. Cannot say enough good things about Maarten and his ability to take you back in time while at the same time considering the future.

New Perspectives on Humanity - The tour was just my partner and me. Our guide was very gracious and took us to several ancient sites in the area on our way to the cave exhibit. We even stopped by a church which had stone or thackwork roofs in a small village along the river. Very picturesque and Medieval. The caves themselves were very cool to see and I highly recommend them as they shed light on our humanity from thousands of years ago. Most of my misconceptions of civilization from back then were realigned. I would recommend this tour to fellow travelers.

Fabulous, entertaining, relaxing - Martin was fabulous. We got a great inside commentary of early man. What a treat. He listened to and answered our questions. The two stops before the cave visit were interesting. Great tour through Viator ... as always.

Do nit miss this historical site - It truly does amaze you. 20,000 year old cave paintings hidden for centuries are amazing! The level if artistry that prehistoric humans had us very advanced. The sheer volume of paintings is also very impressive. Of course this is a reproduction but very accurate. If we all visited the original cave, we would destroy the art just by breathing. Do not miss this!
