DAY 01: HANOI

Sapa - At 6:30 AM, our van will collect you for transfer to the sleeper bus, which will take approximately 6.5 hours to arrive in SaPa.

At 1:30 PM, our guide will greet you, and we’ll proceed to the hotel for lunch.

By 2:30 PM, we’ll embark on a trek to Y Linh Ho village, then hike through the picturesque rice terraces along Muong Hoa Stream towards Lao Chai, home to the Black H’mong ethnic group. We’ll continue to the stunning Hoang Lien Son mountain range and reach Ta Van village.

Additional Information

Sa Pa previously served as the capital and a leading township of the erstwhile Sa Pa District in Lào Cai Province, situated in north-west Vietnam. Its initial inhabitants were a mysterious group about whom not much is known. They departed leaving behind hundreds of petroglyphs across the valley, often seen as enigmatic lines believed to be from the 15th century, perhaps depicting local land records. The community was then inhabited by the Hmong and Yao highland minorities. Today, Sa Pa functions as a major market town in the region, home to several ethnic minorities such as the Hmong, Dao (Yao), Giáy, Pho Lu, and Tày. These four remain predominant minority groups in the Sa Pa district. The native Vietnamese, known as Kinh, never originally settled in this highest of Vietnamese valleys, tucked in the shadow of Phan-Xi-Pǎng (Fansipan, 3143 m), the tallest peak of the nation. Sa Pa is also the site of over 200 ancient boulders featuring carvings. Since 1997, the ‘Area of Old Carved Stone in Sapa’ is under consideration for the UNESCO heritage list.

Best travel agency around Vietnam - We were in Vietnam for a total of 3 weeks and booked all our trips here. Linh had everything under control and always gave us great advice. Even when we were no longer in the Hanoi area but further south, we were able to arrange everything through her and pay with a link. Prices and staff are unbeatable :)
