- Arusha - DAY 2: WEST KILIMANJARO TO ARUSHA | 83K
Today’s journey will be a lengthy one as cyclists travel from the western Kilimanjaro plains towards the city of Arusha. The initial part of the ride traverses the Ngasurai open plains, a migratory route for elephants traveling to and from Amboseli National Park in Kenya. Cyclists should anticipate a warm and dusty day. After completing the dirt road, the route transitions to the main tarmac road leading to Arusha city, passing several small villages and settlements with Mt. Meru in the background. Just before reaching the vibrant city of Arusha, the path will divert through a coffee estate, heading towards a boutique lodge located outside the city. The ride concludes today at the Kili Cranes Hotel, where the night will be spent.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included
Accommodation: Kili Cranes Hotel
- Tarangire National Park - DAY 3: ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE | 102K
Today’s ride covers the longest distance, though not the most challenging, primarily on tarmac roads. The route passes through numerous villages, towns, and open plains. The long stretches of undulating road through the Tanzanian countryside perfectly illustrate Ernest Hemingway’s quote: “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.” After completing the tarmac section, the path diverts onto a dirt road leading to the camp on the border of Tarangire National Park, home to Tanzania’s largest concentration of elephants. Tonight’s accommodation is at the Roika Tented Lodge, offering a refreshing end to a long, hot day of cycling with a swimming pool to cool off.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included
Accommodation: Roika Tented Camp
- Lake Manyara National Park - DAY 4: TARANGIRE TO LAKE MANYARA | 74K
Today’s ride promises another thrilling day as cyclists navigate the migratory wildlife corridors between Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Parks. The initial section returns to the main road for a few kilometers before diverting onto a dirt road towards Lake Manyara. This area is abundant in wildlife, with numerous Maasai settlements along the way. A highlight of the day will be the stunning views of the Great Rift Valley as cyclists head towards Lake Manyara. After the dirt road section, the route rejoins the main tarmac road towards Mto wa Mbu town for several kilometers before diverting onto a dirt road towards Migombani Tented Camp for the night.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included
Accommodation: Migombani Camp
- Ngorongoro Crater - DAY 5: LAKE MANYARA TO NGORONGORO | 43K
Today’s ride is the final and most challenging, yet the most rewarding. The day begins with cycling from the dirt road back onto the tarmac road, passing the bustling town of Mto wa Mbu and the entry gate of Lake Manyara National Park. The route then ascends the Great Rift Valley escarpment, leaving behind a breathtaking backdrop. Before reaching the top, cyclists can pause at a viewpoint overlooking the beautiful Lake Manyara National Park and its surroundings, an ideal spot for a memorable selfie. The journey continues on the tarmac road past the vibrant Karatu town towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The ride concludes at the entrance gate to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (Loduare gate), marking the end of an exciting 6-day tour of Tanzania’s northern tourist circuit on two wheels.
- Kilimanjaro International Airport - DAY 6: NGORONGORO TO MOSHI / JRO AIRPORT
With a 20-minute drive from Karatu to the stunning Ngorongoro ahead, a 07:00 departure from the hotel in Karatu is necessary. The expert safari guide will ensure a well-cared-for experience throughout the day, sharing knowledge along the way. There will be time to enjoy a picnic lunchbox, included in the day tour. After a delightful day experiencing the spectacular sights and sounds of this special place, departure from Ngorongoro is around 14:00, arriving back in Moshi by 18:00, where guests will be dropped off at their hotel in Moshi or at the airport.
