Highlights
  • The 3 Eyes National Park - In this national park we will find one of the best kept natural secrets in the city, its four lakes are: - Lago Azufre: This is the first lake we have seen since we entered. Its name is due to the fact that a white substance can be seen at the bottom and therefore the people who attended this place thought that it was sulfur. - La Nevera: It is the third lake that we can see, its name is due to the low temperatures it reaches since it never receives sunlight. Its temperature oscillates between 15°C and 21°C. - The Lake of the Ladies: It is the second lake that we got to see, its name comes from the fact that it was used as a spa before and because of its discreet location and because it is shallow, it was reserved for women. It is 2.5 meters deep at its deepest part. Los Zaramagullones: This is the fourth lake, its name is due to a species of amphibian ducks that are native to the area. It has a natural vegetation that surrounds the lake.

As Advertised. Great Tour - This was a very good tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and communicated extremely well. He moved seamlessly between English and Spanish. There was a minor glitch in the pickup, but after sending a message to the operator, the driver came to our hotel and we were off on our adventure.

Worth it - This was a great trip. Victor our guide was flexible, since there was just 6 of us, we could make simple changes as the conditions merited. Highlights included Tres Ojos, The Columbus Monument, the Cathedral, and the Colonial City--including the Historical/Art museum. Victor was a wealth of historical knowledge from the area.

The Best! - Our guide from M&E, Miguel was the absolute BEST! Friendly and informative, he made our first trip to the DR very enjoyable and memorable. Each stop had enough time to savour the sights and not rushing. 5 Stars!

Tour with partner - Punctual departure, the driver Artemio is pleasant with good conversation and explains the life of Santo Domingo very well. Tito was our guide and he gives a very good explanation and answers everything that is asked very adequately. We leave happy. The only thing missing was water during the tour to hydrate

Great Tour despite Initial Disconnect - This tour was overall a wonderful experience in the amazing city of Santo Domingo. Few cities can boast about having such a beautiful historic district as well as the natural cave and lake wonder of Tres Ojos National Park. The tour guide Miguel was knowledgeable and led our group with multilingual finesse. He went above and beyond to assist and share the story of his city. However an initial blip occurred regarding the posted pick up location. The driver never showed up at the appointed time. Upon phone call to the tour company, I was simply told to find a ride somehow to meet up with the rest of the group at Tres Ojos. Frustrating to say the least! Once I found the group though the experience was great and would highly recommend!

It was ok - I will start with the good ... the guide Leo was fantastic. He was funny and energetic. The place that we stopped to eat lunch at was good as well. Now the bad. The other reviewers were not lying. It is hard to get in contact with the owner. I messaged them on Viator and received nothing. I had to do a google search and find the company's information and contact them via WhatsApp. On the day of the tour, the driver picked me up and dropped me off at the cave. He said my tour guide would be there in 20-30 minutes because the group was coming from Punta Cana. I thought this was a tour company from Santo Domingo. Despite picking English, the tour is in English and Spanish. The guy explains it in Spanish first and then in English. I would have liked to have had an all English tour so I did not have to wait to find out what he was saying. Afterwards myself and another guy had to wait for the driver to pick us up after the tour was done. It was very unorganized but I gave them 3 stars because you did experience a lot and the guide was really good.

Based on previous reviews... - Based on previous reviews I was looking forward to a well organised and insightful tour, unfortunately this was nothing of the sort. I was collected from my hotel in Santo Domingo alongside one other person. We were dropped off at the first stop Three Eyes National Park where we had to wait over and hour to eventually be clubbed with a bigger tour group that arrived from Punta Cana - it is likely that we were given to a different tour operator as there was only 2 of us from Santo Domingo. The three Eyes National Park was the best part of the tour purely due to it being a natural sight to see. The next stop Columbus Lighthouse was pretty pointless: we simply got out of the bus for a few minutes to take pictures from the street, we did not go near the lighthouse itself. Finally the remaining stops in Colonial City were quite rushed in terms of how quickly we went through the sights and the time the tour guide spent giving information. In general throughout the tour not much information was provided in English so the majority of time myself and the other English speaking person had no idea what point of the tour we were on. On a positive note, lunch was restaurant sit down and the food was good. To conclude the tour guide did not provide any additional benefit, however this did not stop him pressuring myself and the other English speaker to tip. If I were to see these sights again I would do it independently via Uber if already in Santo Domingo.

Not Worth the Money-Not As Advertised - The tour did not live up to its advertised itinerary. While the itinerary listed "admission included" for several attractions, we did not get to explore most of them from the inside. We only visited three of the listed attractions: Three Eyes National Park, the Museum of the Royal Houses, and a quick 5-minute stop at the Columbus Lighthouse for photos. We missed out on visiting the Panteon Nacional, Parque Colon, and despite walking through the colonial district, none of the specified sites were highlighted. Other attractions listed on the itinerary, such as The Alcazar de Colon, the Primary Cathedral of America, the Dominicus Convent, Las Damas Street, and the Amber Museum, were not visited at all. The convent was merely pointed out from a distance. Overall, the tour did not deliver as promised, and we felt it was not worth the money, as we could have visited these places independently. This discrepancy between the advertised itinerary and the actual tour experience was disappointing. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable, which was a plus. We were picked up on time by a single driver from our hotel and then taken to Three Eyes National Park, where we briefly waited for another group. In total, our group had about 10 people. The food we enjoyed was delicious, and the restaurant provided a refreshing break with its air conditioning.
