BeeLighted - We were so warmly greeted by Marcia and Helder that we immediately felt like members of their own family. The amount of knowledge, and passion they have for preserving this fragile ecosystem, was truly beyond description. We had a pleasure of meeting their lovely hens and dog peacefully enjoying the apple orchard. During a short drive up the mountain we were introduced to another area of Madeira Island. Safely dressed in comfortable bee suits, we were able to gently interact with the bees and feel the calming energy of their hives. Watching new worker bees hatching, queen bee and her brood being cared for and the whole colony working in unison was a stunning (but not stinging)😉experience. Upon returning to their home, we were greatly surprised by a feast of local cheese, bread, award winning home made apple cider, freshly grilled sausage and of course honey! We even tried pollen and propolis for the very first time. The surprises continued, when we received lovely photos and even a video of our time with the bees. We highly recommend this event to anyone who appreciates the ambassadors of the Mother Nature.

Bees with a side of Poncha. - Marcia and Helder were amazing hosts. We are amateur beekeepers ourselves and thought it would be fun to check out beekeepers from Madeira. This experience felt more like we were hanging out with old friends. If you're interested in bees or local agriculture we highly recommend this experience. Thank you again Marcia and Helder, you really made our trip to Madeira special. PS; they take you for the best Poncha on island!!
