Excellent - We had Nacho and Rodrigo on this trip and it was amazing! Thank you to Rodrigo for such wonderful driving, especially up the mountain! Nacho was a wonderful guide, his sense of humor and knowledge of the area was so informative. The lagoon was beautiful and the story that went with it as well. We had lunch at the resort, about half of us, and it was delicious, the view spectaular, the service excellent! The vineyard, In Situ, was a great stop. The wine was excellent and empanadas as well.

Amazing experience! - The tour was an incredible experience on our trip in Chile! And part of that was due to our guide Nacho and driver Juan Carlos! Giving us lots of information about the history of the country and the places we went! The Laguna del Inca is wonderful and worth every second of the trip! I highly recommend the tour!!! We already want to go back to visit in winter!

Nacho was an amazing tour... - Nacho was an amazing tour guide! I felt that he and the driver went above and beyond, and they were super friendly and knowledgeable. The llama farm is not part of the tour anymore, but because we requested and we had a small group (6 total), Nacho and the driver worked to find some llamas at a nearby restaurant that we could visit! Our tour included Chilean history, a wine tour with fresh empanadas, a long drive to a ski resort in the Andes that included stories of the mountains, and a quick visit with llamas. It was a little expensive for the price (speaking as a college student), but it was an incredible experience nonetheless.

Interesting day trip outside of Santiago - After spending a few days in Santiago, we wanted to explore outside of the area, and are glad to have planned this tour. Our tour guide Hector was a fantastic storyteller and teacher. His enthusiasm was contagious, and we so appreciated his clear communication around our itinerary, what to expect, where we may need flexibility due to weather or road conditions, etc. Our trip started with a stop at a gas station so anyone who was interested could pick up coffee/drinks/snacks and have a bathroom break before the drive to the San Estaban winery (those in eariler hotel pick-up slots had been on the bus already for an hour and may not have had breakfast due to their early pick-up time). The San Estaban winery (our second stop) produces In Situ wine label. And while I was disappointed there were no empanadas, the wine tasting and snacks of chips, nuts, and naturally-dried local raisins were delicious, and the winery folks didn’t mind me walking up to the Syrah grapes and lopping off a bunch of fresh grapes to snack on. :). It worked out for the best anyway because lunch was only 1-1.5 hours away anyway. And this is the part in the review where we provide special thanks and recognition to Alejandro, our driver, who EXPERTLY handled the road maintenance stops, tons of trucks, one-lane each way windy roads, and the 29 tight curves up to Hotel Portillo. Hotel Portillo is a classic, renowned ski resort with a restaurant overlooking the Inca Lagoon. We enjoyed the view while eating lunch (their chicken soup is delicious by the way), and then spent the rest of our free time walking by the lagoon and taking photos. The resort was pretty empty given it is off-season, and there was no snow so the view was not as dramatic/beautiful as some that are shown, but we enjoyed the quiet, with the wild wind kicking up now and then, and the cool fresh air that high up. On our return trip, we stopped at a restaurant/road stop that had llamas to visit with and to pick up coffee or ice cream to enjoy on the way back. Throughout the day, Hector provided great narration/facts about Chile and the regions were we visited and as the fog/weather allowed we made additional photo stops including to see Mt. Aconcagua (the fog/clouds lifted just in time!), Condors flying, and take a photo of the crazy “caracoles” road leading up to Hotel Portillo and the boarder with Argentina. On the last leg of the journey, Hector proclaimed nap time (for which I think 60-70% of us promptly fell asleep) and then an organized drop off back to hotels between 5:30-6. Overall a lovely day trip outside of the city to explore the Andes.

Don’t miss out - The lake is gorgeous and the drive up there is nothing short of an engineering marvel. Yes it’s a long day but well worth it. The winery was lovely and the wine and empanada so delicious. I will now seek out Red Bull and National Geographic films that spotlight this area for the extreme winter sports
