A Celestial Prelude in the Andes

As a biologist and environmental activist, my heart beats in rhythm with the natural world. The allure of the Chilean Andes, with its pristine landscapes and clear skies, was irresistible. I had heard whispers of the Santiago Stargazing Tour and its promise of celestial wonders, and I knew I had to experience it for myself. The journey began with a seamless transfer from my hotel, courtesy of Barbara from Chile Off Track, who set the tone for an evening of discovery and awe.

Upon arrival at the privately-owned observatory nestled in the Andes, I was greeted by the enthusiastic and knowledgeable host, D’amaso. His passion for the cosmos was infectious, and as he guided us through the evening, I felt a profound connection to the universe. The small group size, just five of us, allowed for an intimate and personalized experience. We began with the extraordinary opportunity to observe the sun and a star in broad daylight, a phenomenon unique to this location.
