Additional Information

Plan a visit to the Cordillera de los Andes, renowned for its popular tourist location - the Cajón del Maipo.

Our journey starts from the Plaza de San José de Maipo, a historic landmark established as a village by Don Ambrosio O’Higgins in 1792. It was created to assist with the area’s mining operations, particularly silver extraction, a critical source of revenue for the colony.

The expedition continues deeper into the Cajón del Maipo, leading to San Alfonso and the Casa del Chocolate. This location, with its intriguing architecture, offers a range of delicious natural products free of chemicals. It is home to a one-of-a-kind ice cream shop and chocolaterie.

Following this, your journey will take you to El Morado, where our ‘photo and experience point’ is located. Here you will learn about its history and the various minerals found there.

The tour concludes at El Morado Lodge & Spa, situated in the Lo Valdés neighbourhood in Cajón del Maipo. It’s the area’s first self-sustainable hotel featuring a restaurant, spa, sauna, and indoor pool. This is where you can enjoy a healthy meal before taking a dip in their pools.

Good option to disconnect and relax for a day - Very nice place and the SPA was great to relax with the view of the volcano, we left not so early which was good but we should have considered breakfast. Sofia's explanation was very good and made the trip very pleasant. The food for lunch, I ordered lamb and it was delicious.

Pretty views, but a long day for a swim … - This trip was ok, but was lacking in a few areas. Our guide was lovely, and she was super knowledgable being able to fluently speak Spanish, Portuguese and English. Our driver was also very friendly, the coach however was very small and every seat was taken … if you are taller then 5ft10 you will struggle and it made it very uncomfortable for my husband. The stops on the way were a little odd … at one point dropping you in a square for 20mins with very little to see and you were just left to wander. Having said that the drive through the valley was stunning and very pretty to watch out of the window. The spa itself was very picturesque however for us as English speakers with very little Spanish to rely on things got quite difficult. No one spoke any English, and whilst our tour guide said she would help us, she disappeared after food and we couldn’t find her, so ended up only being able to swim and not able to explain we wanted to book the hot tub experience. A real disappointment as this is why we went in the first place. Please not to use the pools you need to wear a swimming hat - we didn’t have any but they did sell them at the spa. 10.000 for 2. Also if you get to use the hot tubs and saunas outside note you will need flip flops or similar to get to them as they are amongst the rocks. Lunch was nice, but cold. We had the lamb and mashed potatoes with a pisco sour. The group we were with were very bad at time keeping and there seemed to be no chasing them up. So when we got back to the bus on time it was easily another 20min minimum wait for the rest of the group. This turned this 8hour trip into almost 12 hours, made worse that we were late leaving the spa so got caught in gridlock Santiago traffic. We eventually gave up waiting to get to our stop and jumped out early to walk the rest of the way. Could have been a good trip, but improvements needed.
