Highlights
  • Hill of the Bells - Discover the intriguing origin of the name for this famous site on the city’s edge. It’s a significant historical spot as it was the execution site of Emperor Maximilian of Habsburg.
  • Parroquia del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus Templo de Santa Clara - A prime illustration of baroque architecture, this convent was founded in 1607 by Don Diego de Tapia, the son of a Queretaro founder. Our tour will leave you in awe with its stunning altarpieces adorned with gold leaf.
  • Jardin Zenea - An evergreen park adorned with fountains and a kiosk dating back to the early 20th century, situated at the very center of the city, named after the esteemed governor Don JosĂ© Santos Zenea.
  • Museo Regional - Among Mexico’s most captivating museums, it occupies the former San Francisco convent, a 16th-century gem of colonial architecture, now showcasing an impressive collection.
  • Palacio de Gobierno Casa de la Corregidora - An essential stop on our tour, this edifice serves as the Governor’s Palace. It’s famously known as the place where Doña Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez was detained in 1810, and from where she dispatched a letter to Captain Allende, sparking the revolutionary movement against Spanish rule.
  • Plaza de Armas - The city’s central plaza, encircled by exquisite baroque residences and fine dining options, features a tribute to Don Antonio de Urrutia y Arana, the Marquis who financed the aqueduct’s construction.
  • Santuario de La Congregacion de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe - You’ll be captivated by this stunning church, erected in 1680; its facade, altarpieces, paintings, and pipe organ are truly magnificent. It houses a revered painting of Our Lady of Guadalupe by the renowned colonial artist Miguel Cabrera.
  • El Acueducto De Queretaro - A city emblem and a source of local pride, this impressive aqueduct was constructed between 1726 and 1738 by Marquis Don Juan Antonio de Urrutia. Spanning 1280 meters with 74 arches, the highest reaching 28 meters, we’ll explore its entire length.
  • Templo y ex-convento de la Santa Cruz de los Milagros - Tradition holds that this convent was established atop ‘El Sangremal’ hill, the birthplace of Queretaro on July 25, 1531. Wander through its courtyards and passageways, which echo the Franciscan missionary past, and discover the tree with cross-shaped thorns.

Jesus and his driver were informative caring and fun!!! - Although the trip was wonderful with an excellent guide and driver, I had an awful time processing my tour through Viator. We needed to add two participants to the group. I was told, midday, that my reservation would be canceled and a new one set up. It took a lot of hours from my vacation, errors and nashing of teeth. Finally at 9:30 PM...the evening before (a 9am tour) I completed a reservation. The only way I was able to process this was to pay $80 that I DID NOT OWE. I will be in touch with Viator for a refund of $80!!!! I am an angry loyal customer!!!!

A must see town! - This was an exciting, educational and fun trip. J. Jesus Rodriguez was a superb guide. He was knowledgeable, fun, amiable and extremely accomodating. Querataro was a beautiful town with lovely architecture and numerous churches that allow one to compare architectural styles and review history. If your main hub is San Miguel de Allende, you are picked up and travel in comfort to Queretaro. This is a full day trip (~9am to 5pm) so allow yourself time to enjoy!!

Tour of Queretaro for the first time, - Our tour guide Jesus showed us the interesting parts of Queretaro. We saw the hill of the bell, the amazing Juarez statue, gorgeous churches some of them dating back over 500 years and so many delightful colonial buildings in addition to the aquaduct. Jesus knew the history of the churches and the many monuments. He’s also a good driver!!

Bewitched Tour - Cancelled last minute by vendor. The require a minimum number of people but we’re not able to get it. It’s pretty easy to get local tour guides by checking around Plaza de Armas, where there is a tourist info office. Hope we can get a refund!!

Disappointing treatment from the tour owner - We were disappointed in this tour, inasmuch as many of the places that were on the itinerary -- two museums and the national theater -- were closed. And they've been closed for a long time due to Covid. Our tour guide said, "we'll need to cut the tour short"...we suggested we visit a winery on the way back, but this came from us not him. The guide himself was knowledgeable about the history of the location, which is why this isn't a 2-star, but the owner, Jesus, should either have not booked us on the tour at all or at least informed us that after a one-hour+ drive many of the destinations would be unavailable.
