Additional Information

Arrive at Santa Marta Marina by 9:30 am and locate the SONATA boat @ Gate. The voyage begins at 10 am, and we can’t delay beyond 9:50 am. The Sonata, a 58ft cutter rigged ketch boat constructed in Taipei, Taiwan in 1979, accommodates up to 26 passengers. Our route takes us into the wind toward Bahia Concha in Tayrona Park, taking in views of Taganga, Playa Grande, and Aguja Island along the way. At Bahia Concha, we’ll drop anchor. Our support vessel will ferry you to the shoreline, or you can opt to swim there. Snorkeling, SUP boarding, and sunbathing are available, but only in specified zones. Lunch and a single drink per person will be provided ON BOARD approximately one hour after we arrive. We require all guests to return to the boat by 3:30 pm for the return journey, wind permitting. We should be back at the Marina by 5 pm just in time for the Sunset view.

If there are weather restrictions from maritime authorities, we’ll explore nearby bays. Note that REFUNDS ARE NOT GRANTED if Maritime Authorities prevent travel to Tayrona Park, but full refunds are issued if all sailing is prohibited. Tayrona Park is closed from Feb 1-15, June 1-15, and Oct 19-Nov 2. During these periods, we’ll explore other adjacent bays.

Nice trip - Nice staff, great trip, good boat. We were in Easter week, it wasn't too crowded. They handed out safety vests. The ride to the destination took 1.5 hours

Amazing - The crew was great, thank you all!!! The park is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I wish the trip was a little longer or maybe go to a couple of beaches. I would do this tour again anyway My family and me loved the experience

Fun day-trip to San Juan beach - My boyfriend and I did this trip as a way to see Tayrona National Park from Santa Marta. It was a fun boat ride and then we just sat on the San Juan beach for several hours. You have the opportunity to order drinks and snacks, but I would recommend bringing your own (the fancy coconut/pineapple beach drinks are really, really expensive and low quality!). Overall, we enjoyed the day though we didn't see much of the park. We met a really fun group of people which added to the experience. If you are looking to see more of the park, I'd recommend doing a hiking tour or going into the park yourself, but if you're looking for a fun day of day-drinking and beach-lounging, then this is the trip for you!

Don’t miss it - We took this tour on the day Tayrona Park reopened and had a fabulous time. The sailboat was comfortable and the crew was fantastic. They were attentive to everyone’s needs. What we thought was going to be a simple lunch turned out to be a real nice chicken or fish dinner on the beach. We would recommend this tour!!

10/10 Recommend - We had such a nice relaxing last day of vacation with this crew! They took us to nice quiet beaches to relax, and provided equipment if we wished (and rides to/from the beach on their dingy if needed). Very nice friendly cheerful group!

Beautiful boat, wonderful crew - Beautiful boat and very friendly crew. They all seemed to enjoy their jobs. It was very fun to actually travel by sail in the afternoon. It was a bit rough and some people might not like that but I enjoyed it. Excellent lunch. Bring sunscreen and some cash for extra drinks with you.

Highly recommend this day trip, Ovier was great, as well as all the rest of the team! - Great experience with very accommodating staff. We sailed to a beach which was beautiful and you have plenty of time to relax. You can do snorkelling and have a wonder along the seafront, get massages and buy drinks on the beach - I would recommend getting your own snacks and drinks as this boat gives every group an ice bucket to keep your drinks cool. They cook a lovely fresh meal on the beach, the fish was amazing and my friend had the veggie option which was also good. They have a paddleboard for you to explore on and spare snorkels - ask the guide to take you on the small boat to a good snorkelling spot. Our highlight of the trip was meeting Ovier who was so lovely, funny and full of energy, it was so worth the money so highly recommend!

Highly recommend! - We had a great time! The team was awesome, the beach was beautiful (mostly peaceful except the music), and the lunch was delicious! There are chairs you can rent in the shade (I think 10000 COP per chair), which was worth it as the sun was strong. The waters are very choppy from Santa Marta to the beach.

Nice ride to a nice beach! - The sailboat was very sturdy with a great crew and seating for everyone without feeling cramped. 90 minutes to the Playa Concha, a dingy ride to shore, a few hours on the beach. Rented chairs for 10K pesos. Lunch was served on the beach and solid. The only thing not as advertised - no English speakers on the ship so one lady had to do all the translating of instructions, lunch options, etc. Also - the beach was clean, water clear (and deep dropoff), snorkeling so-so.....but the sand was not really that different than Rododero in terms of color, water, same thing. Beware if you get motion sickness, the ride was a bit rough although I'm told it was particularly rough that day. I estimated 4-6 foot swells. 1 free beer then more available for purchase. Overall, enjoyable and much better than land entry into the park, which took 3 hours the same day so I heard!
