Best value for money tour with a great local guide - Nany was the best guide, so informative and friendly. Lots of stops along the way, very interesting tour of the island of sal. So good to see the 'real' Sal not just your holiday complex. Definitely recommend!

Everything you want to see on Sal, original and interesting with local guide 'Vani' - Super fun day in Sal. We visited all the sights in complete freedom on the back seats of an open pick-up with a local guide. View of the Leeuwenberg, short stop in the capital Esparagos with a passage through the slums (not only seen the beautiful aspects of tourism). Refreshment on location Blue Eye caves, visit and explanation of the small salt mine, Palmeiras with lunch at a local fish restaurant. Always with interesting explanations about the people, their way of life, the historical background, etc., also with the necessary humor. SHARKBAY stand in the middle of the lemon sharks...and finish by floating in the salt lake near Salinas. We all experienced it that day. Thanks a lot Vani.

Fantastic! - Thanks to our guide Vany, who took us to magnificent places, offering to take photos so we could fully enjoy the locations visited. He took us both to the classic Sal destinations and to less touristy places, making us discover this island at 360º. Thank you!!

Salt in essence and unforgettable in 8 hours - Well, let's see the score from 1 to 10, a 12. He explained everything to us with all the love, emotion and joy that made Dan want to repeat the tour the next day. Everything very well planned, with local info and tips, very fun and wonderful activities: desert, lemon sharks, kite surf beach, special places... to take unforgettable photos I have recommended it to all my friends

We had a great guide Chan who was friendly , very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. It is a full on day but great fun with highlights of the blue eye, walking in sea with sharks and swimming in salt lake . But the visits to the towns and villages gave areal insight into island life .

Amazing day cruising around Sal! - We had the best day with our guide Cal! We sat at the back of the truck and got to experience the strong winds of the island! Sand everywhere but that didn’t stop us from enjoying and seeing the island. Stops at the capital and a fishing village Palmeira where we enjoyed a nice local lunch. We saw the blue eye and walked in the ocean with some lemon sharks and floated in the salt lake. Highly recommend this tour!

Around the island in a day :-) - A possible downside for some - Sal is not a Tenerife or Ibiza holiday with pubs all competing for customers looking for a cheap pint. It is not over developed and the local population is small. Sal is yet to be spoilt by the hotel chains and developers. If you want some white sand beaches, greeny blue seas, some local history, some sightseeing and a lot of relaxing - you'll be spoilt here. We did the all day sightseeing and it was great (both sights and value). Our guides (Nany and Domingos) were fantastic and they had a smile and an answer for every question. We were picked up at the hotel at the right time and were on the go most of the day. From the hotel we had two other pick-ups then on to Santa Maria and the Shell Cemetery Beach. From there up to Kite Beach and on to Espargos passing Murdeira, the restaurant that looks like a pirate ship and the airport. Further on we stopped for some photographs at a site known for mirages before the amazing sight of the Blue Eye Cave (added cost here). From here it was down to Palmeira for a short walking tour and lunch. You had the option to pre-book lunch so there was not a lot of wasted time. After refreshments, we went to Pedra Lume (the salt mines) where for a small additional fee you could go for a swim (or float) in the very salty waters of the former mine. The salt mine site was also a reminder of the darker past of Sal when, unfortunately, slavery was still an acceptable thing and the reason the islands were settled by the Portuguese. This was a sombre run up to the best part of the tour. The sharks – wow. These are probably used to the tourists by now and still on the small side – but… wow. The guide does the dangerous bit to attract the sharks and other fish towards you. You stand there as 1.5 metre wild sharks come to check whats happening. I don’t remember how many we saw in total, at one point I saw four within five metres of our group. From here we started the journey home feeling content at the days trip and starting to feel tired. If we ever go back we would both do the tour again.

Wasted money - Nothing special. Lost a lot of time in places not interesting to see (like kite beach...) It is a tourist trap. Better to rent a car and go around by yourself
