• Anaga - The Anaga Mountains cover a significant portion of the northeast region of Tenerife, featuring coastlines, ravines, laurel forests, and remote villages that are astonishingly inhabited. This entire area is a protected natural landscape, offering breathtaking beauty with numerous twists and turns that will captivate and astonish visitors. The walk provides an excellent introduction to the area’s remarkable natural beauty, showcasing spectacular contrasts and a rich diversity of native flora and fauna, a direct result of the region’s isolation and ecological diversity. The area’s unique climate has fostered one of the world’s most significant examples of laurisilva, or laurel forest. This ancient forest dates back to the Tertiary Period and is preserved only in the Canaries, Madeira, and several Azorean islands. Laurisilva is a crucial resource, as its dense foliage retains moisture, replenishes aquifers (natural water reserves on the island), and creates and maintains fertile soil. Numerous routes are available in this area.

On December 19, 1994, the region was designated as Anaga Rural Park, establishing three additional sectors within the park’s boundaries: Ijuana Integral Nature Reserve (T-1), El Pijaral Integral Nature Reserve, and Los Roques de Anaga Integral Nature Reserve. These areas received the highest level of environmental protection to ensure the preservation of their delicate ecosystems. Access to Monte de Aguirre, a unique ancient laurel forest, is also regulated.
