Highlights
  • Petros Santa Barbara - First stop is the breakfast tasting of authentic Hellenic cuisine. The menu is a combination of the best ingredients that Greece and California have to offer. Choose either a sweet or savory phyllo. We will spend approximately 30 minutes taking in the calming lounge vibes in the beautiful courtyard sitting among manicured trees and floral foliage set in garden planters. Long drapes create a sense of warmth and welcome. The ambiance is light, airy and relaxing.
  • Crushcakes & Cafe - Second stop is the lunch tasting. It is in a great location, one block away from the iconic Santa Barbara Courthouse, one block away from State Street and two blocks away from the crown jewel of the Santa Barbara city park system: Alice Keck Park Memorial Gardens. We will spend approximately 30 minutes enjoying a local’s favorite hangout. Choose either a vegetarian or non-vegetarian half sandwich.
  • Renaud’s Patisserie & Bistro - Third stop is the treat tasting… and what a treat it is! You don’t need to go to France to taste the best French desserts in Santa Barbara. We will spend approximately 15 minutes tasting something très élégant. Choose a total of 2 Parisian Macarons from an assortment of flavors.
  • Arlington Theatre - Fourth and final stop, we will end the tasting experience by talking about the history of Arlington Plaza for approximately 15 minutes. This area features a curated collection of the very best locally owned dining, retail and service establishments in Santa Barbara. The plaza is located across the street from the iconic Arlington Theatre on State Street in downtown Santa Barbara’s historic cultural arts district. With signature Santa Barbara red tile roofs, patio dining that beckons, and a truly unique retail experience, Arlington Plaza offers something for everyone.

Additional Information

Immerse in the local customs when you travel, and one means is via their cuisine. Your journey will be conducted by an adept narrator who has a deep love for ‘La Dolce Vita’. Become acquainted with the history of each sampling location without feeling excessively satiated. You’ll also acquire knowledge on how to proficiently traverse the Santa Barbara gourmet scene like a veteran local.

This tour’s aim is to present a ‘bypass the queue’ experience where a visitor can savor flavors from 3 local small businesses while gaining more insight on each eatery and the easily traversable one block region of Arlington Plaza. The serving size for each of the 3 samplings is designed such that it leaves scope for a lunch at the tour’s end at any of those 3 eateries or any of the suggested restaurants mentioned during the tour.

Relish the advantage of ‘bypass the queue’ with a private table where reservations aren’t feasible and the queues are notoriously long. We maintain compact groups to ensure personalized attention from your guide.

Food and some history - It is fun to walk through neighborhoods and eat local food, or rather, fun things with a California flare. The guide was knowledgeable, and the snacks were great. The savory breakfast croissant was especially memorable

Great fun! - Good food and Joseph was knowledgeable about the history of Santa Barbara. It was enjoyable! My brother and his wife were on the tour with me and even though they’ve lived in Santa Barbara many years, they learn new things also.

Not good - Joseph the tour guide was nice but the food was not I expected. Half a sandwich and 1 macaroon??!! It's not worth 40 dollars per person. So hungry after the tour.
