Too rainy… - The weather was bad so I didn’t go all the way to the rock, but the guide is good at guiding the steps for minimum fall. Safety first!

A wonderful and helpful guide. - It was an extremely wonderful tour. The young tour guide Hovel (may spell it wrong), was very helpful. We are an old couple, the guide helped my wife all the way up and down the mountain. Without his help, my wife would not have made the trip. Thank you.

Highly Recommend - Great Experience Despite Bad Weather! - This was the first solo trip that I have taken and the guided hike to Kjerag & Kjeragbolten was just something that I was looking for! During the booking process (I booked directly through Lysefjorden Adventure's own website), you select the date in which you want to go on this hike and the location that you want to picked up from. There is a great selection of hotels that you can select from for pickup without charge. If your stay is outside the city centre, you would need to pay a fee). The trip starts quite early, with pick up being between 07:00-07:15 AM. You get picked up from your selected hotel and the guide messages/calls you to let you know that they have arrived. If there are any other people who booked onto the same day, the guide then goes around to other hotels to pick them up. On the day that I went, only 2 other people from the same hotel joined, making it a very quick and efficient start. I booked my trip for 10 August 2025 and the weather forecast was not looking good - with moderate rain forecasted for the whole day. Once we got on the road, it took approximately 2 hours to get to the starting point of the hike. At the start of the hike, there are toilet facilities to use (make sure to use them before you head up as there there are no other toilet facilities during the hike). Our guide (Howard), gave us a briefing of what the hike would entail; this included the hiking route, where the steep bits and Norwegian flats were and average timeframes for the completing the hike. We travelled up 3 steep climbs and the guide ensured that we were close enough together during the hike - and no one was left too far behind. As the hike went on, the weather took a turn for the worse. It started to rain a lot more, winds got stronger and the fog got worse! You could not see anything from the view point or the trail markings. After 2.5 hours of hiking up, we decided to turn back and call it day - safely making it back down. We then popped into the café located near the start for a quick drink & bite before heading back. You were then dropped off back at your hotel that you were picked up from. Howard was a great and friendly guide. You could tell he definitely has experience and enjoys hiking. Key notes: - Make sure you bring suitable hiking clothing with you (including shoes and gloves) as some parts of the hike are steep and slippery. - Ensure that you are ready on time for the pick up in the morning. - I would say that previous hiking experience is recommended due to the steepness of the hike.

Challenging Hike and Amazing Guide - The hike was challenging but hiking as a group made the whole experience better. Toa is an amazing guide. He is knowledgable of the trails and super helpful along the way. And he takes great pictures!

Dishonest Agency - Experience more than mixed. The weather was not mild this Sunday but the excursion being maintained I went there. You have to be well equipped because the hike is difficult and trying, and requires a lot of climbing, the path being mainly rocks (climbable - more or less easily - thanks to the metal chains arranged on the path). The guide was very friendly, but the climb to the highest point was really arduous, not to say dangerous, in the rain and wind gusts at over 80km/h! Once we got to 1000m the guide suggested we turn around, as it was becoming too dangerous to continue. We agreed but did not see what there was to see!! I think these are things that happen and the operator will probably make a good business move. We therefore return 2 hours earlier than planned (5 hours car for 2 hours of good painful climb...) and write to Viator support for at least partial reimbursement. After many reminders from them, the operator never deigned to respond to the refund request and it was Viator who had to compensate up to 30 euros only (of the 150 paid!!). Basically, a dishonest and incomprehensible operator, who surely had in advance the precise meteorological data but preferred to maintain the hike, despite the danger and knowing possibly that it would not go to completion. In short, I lost money, precious time on the beautiful city of Stavanger, and I got injured slipping. Finally, I am used to hiking, athletic and trained. Check the weather in the days leading up to your excursion so that you can postpone or cancel if you can, as the operator will take all possible risks to maintain and take your money!
