Superb tour experience. - View of the crater at the summit is truly breathtaking. "Raul," our guide was extremely knowledgeable (and not only about the site) and professional. He speaks is spoken so all can hear and understand his excellent commentary. Truly, a great communicator. I found his knowledge of the site and culture in general excellent. Having lunch afterwards at the mercado food court was a great option! Lucky that we got him for the tour!

Amazing! Must do! - Our tour Guide Adonis was amazing. He is so friendly and helpful. He told us many stories and gave us the history of everything. He even gave us good recommendations for places to shop and eat when leaving. We also had lunch at a beautiful lakeside restaurant! Great food and cool breeze. He’s really like family to us now! We felt so safe and we are greatful to have such an amazing guide! Do the trip!

If you go to San Salvador you HAVE to do this! - The view once you reach the top of the Volcano is breath taking! Totally worthy the journey. Especially when you have such an amazing tour guide!

Amazing experience - It is very easy to go to Santa Ana volcano by yourself. You do not need to book a tour. I stayed in the previous night in Santa Ana. There is a bus station in town to catch the bus to Santa Ana volcano. Out front is a security guard with a gun, don’t worry, they see everywhere. As I was approaching the bus station, he was waving to me. I must have stood out and he knew that is there I wanted to go. Inside, you buy a bus ticket, less than $2. There are a couple of shops to buy water and snacks. Pretty soon the room filled up with other tourists going to the volcano. Everyone gets on the bus. Don’t worry about where to get off. The bus driver knows. Everyone gets off. Walk up the path a little ways. There are English speaking guides, you pay $3 to the guide. Then to pay $5 entry fee. Walk to the volcano. Half way up is a man selling homemade ice cream bars. Amazing views. When you walk back down to get the bus, up the road a little bit, that leaves at 1pm to go back to Santa Ana if that’s where you’re staying.

Worth it for the views - Driver/guide was very helpful despite limited English and having to hike up with because I was solo and there were no groups to join. I felt the tour was a bit overpriced for experience (just hike and taken to restaurant with view of lake you have to pay for on your own), but I paid for the comfort and ease of getting everywhere without having to plan ahead. Overall, great trip and worth doing.
