Exploring something new with our guide Sam - Sam took us on a hike we would probably not have explored on our own. He is very knowledgeable about the flora, fauna, and history of the area. It was great fun and we felt a sense of accomplishment for a lazy beach holiday.

Great trip! - Sam was a super friendly, knowledgeable guide. Ecology, history, culture and current events--we discussed it all. He even let me practice my lousy spanish!!

A different view of the Riviera Nayarit - Sam is a very friendly, knowledgeable and fun guide. He showed us how to crack open palm nuts and eat them, as well as other details about the local flora and fauna. It’s a very healthy hike—not too long but pretty steep. You will also need to scramble up and down some rocks in places—but Sam is right there to make sure you’re safe. He’s also a great source for local restaurant recommendations and other things to do in San Pancho.

Mono mountain hike ending with coco frio - Sam is a friendly, knowledgeable and funny guide. We met him in Sayulita to bus together to the Mono Mountain hike, followed by a tasty/inexpensive taco lunch back in Sayulita. Our group ( 4 women) enjoyed his perspective as a local, and he easily switched between English and Spanish as he described the history, culture and local flora and fauna. The hike is challenging and rewarding, and he shared a secret view at the top off the beaten trail. Take plenty of water, and be sure to treat yourself to a fresh coco frio sold out of the back of a truck at the end of the hike.

The best hikes and bike tours - I've gone on three excursions with Sam--two hikes and a bike ride--and he is undoubtedly the best guide--and best guy!--in San Pancho to head into the mountains with. Highly recommended!

Stunning and informative jungle tour and more! - Oh this was a definite highlight! Samuel took us on a private hike/tour. I think the entire walk ended up being 6 or 7 miles and he adjusted to my godmothers speed, she can go forever but very slowly. He’s bilingual, we did the hike in Spanish but he can do either. We started by visiting an amazing community center in san Pancho which he told us all about. I had no idea how many amazing projects go on there: literacy, art, upcycling, workshops… as we were walking through town he answered questions about culture, history, and nature of the area. Then we embarked on a hike through the jungle. He taught us about the plants and animals, what’s being done to conserve the jungle, and why so much is cut down. It was absolutely stunning and he obviously knew the area very well. Again, he went at our pace. We emerged at the beach and learned more. Then we went for the best lunch of all my days in that vacation as he gave us more information about the new town we were in. He was attentive, personable, patient, helpful, and the whole walk was just stunning in beauty. This is why you go on tours with small businesses run by local guides. It couldn’t have been better!

Hidden Beaches on Mountain Bike adventure - This was the best experience … it was a great mix of bike riding through the jungle and town and learning so much about San Pancho and the culture here. Samuel is a great host, very friendly and knowledgeable. I did this bike tour on the first day and it was so helpful to get a feel for this special place spending the day with a local guide, as well as making new wonderful friends :-) Do not hesitate to do this - it’s a challenging ride and really fun!!!
