Bayo, our guide, along with Roman and his cousin, ensured we were well-acquainted with the snorkeling gear and the rules of the Marine Park. The use of flotation belts and the restriction on fins were new to me, but I understood the importance of preserving the delicate coral formations.

As we drifted with the current, the underwater world unfolded beneath us. Schools of fish darted around, and the occasional sea turtle glided by, seemingly unbothered by our presence. Our final stop was Playa El Cielo, aptly named “The Sky” for its clear, shallow waters dotted with starfish. Here, the water was only a few feet deep, and we were free to explore without flotation vests. The sight of stingrays gracefully moving across the sandbar was mesmerizing, a fitting end to our snorkeling adventure.

As we made our way back to the dock, Enrique entertained us with his stories and dance moves, capturing the essence of island life.
