Amazing day with an amazing crew - We had a very nice experience doing the tour. On the day we did it, we were only 2, me and my partner so the tour was very private and everything was amazing. The staff helped us with photos and make sure we had a great experience. We did the tour in August which was low season.

Best time at Rancho Xotolar! - This was the most amazing experience, we loved every second. Tomas and his family were so hospitable and friendly. Super convenient to get picked up and dropped off at our doorstep. The horse riding was beginner friendly and the views were absolutely beautiful. Tomas went above and beyond to take photos and videos of us. We learnt so much about the history of the land and the farm. The meal after our ride was muy delicioso, 100% recommend. Thank you for a fantastic day!

Heaven by horseback - Rancho Xotolar provided my family and I with the absolute best vacation experience to date. The Rancho is run by family and they made us feel like family immediately. Tomas, Felix and Leo are wonderful hosts. We arrived, chose our cowboy hats, were given cafe de olla and proceeded to milk a cow. My adult daughters seemed almost like little kids again.
The actual horseback riding is almost beyond description; you'll need to see it yourself. The views are spectacular. The narration provided by our hosts really adds to the richness of the ride.
The food was so good and came with a description of how the menu was indelibly a part of the region. Tomas shared the history of the region and the history of the family ranch. Lovely story of an incredibly resilient family. You simply cannot beat the value of this excursion.
Oh, and the cowboys sing!!!!!

Perfect horseback ride and ranch experience - Can't recommend this more highly! My husband and I completed a half day horseback ride and had a fantastic time. Tomás picked us up exactly on time (speaking perfect English), and we drove 30 minutes to his family ranch. Upon arrival, we were greeted with some homemade café, taught to milk a cow, and saw how the ranch's cheese was made. Our group had a variety of skill levels on horseback, but Tomás and his team of three other family members made sure we were safe every second throughout the three-hour ride. The ride was just enough of a challenge to be fun -- gorgeous landscapes, steep ups and downs, traversing some water, and even some galloping. Tomás also took our phones and snapped some wonderful pictures throughout the ride! After finishing, we enjoyed a delicious homemade enchiladas lunch before returning home.
The horses were well-trained, well cared-for, and clearly part of the family. 40 of Tomás' family members live on the ranch, and they made us feel welcomed and at-home from the moment we arrived.
P.S. Though our group was all adults, Tomás said they welcome children and recently had a four-year old join them! As is typical here, they do not provide helmets, so if this is a concern for you, I'd recommend you bring your own.

Unforgettable Family Adventure at Xotolar Ranch - Today, my family and I had one of the most memorable experiences of our lives at Xotolar Ranch just outside San Miguel de Allende. From the moment we arrived, Leo, Felix, Roberto, and Tomas welcomed us like family. We started by milking cows (which turned into delicious cheese!) before heading out on a three-hour horseback ride through some of the most stunning scenery we’ve ever seen—lush green hills, 200-year-old cacti, ancient pyramids, and panoramic views that took our breath away.
Our daughters (9 and 11) were treated with such care, and the horses were gentle and easy to ride. Coming from San Diego, it felt like a peaceful escape into paradise, great for both our mental and physical well-being.
We ended the day with a delicious home-cooked ranch meal, full of flavor and heart. This experience was truly a highlight of our trip and one of the best things we’ve ever done as a family. Highly recommend, it’s worth every peso.

Best Event Ever - This was the best excursion that we’ve ever done!!! Tomas is a constant professional and the horseback riding was an adventure, scenic, and exciting all built into one event . His family staff made the overall event entertaining. At the very end, you will enjoy a home made dinner.. AAAA++++++ We will beb back .

Don’t hesitate, go go go! - The highlight of our trip so far and one I will remember forever! I went with my daughter, we are both experienced riders but had never tried Mexican style before and we absolutely loved it. The horses were fantastic and so sure footed and well trained. The views were to die for, the trail was so fun with several opportunities to gallop and cross the creek. Tomas and his brothers were such welcoming hosts and shared lots of stories about their life on the ranch. And we finished the experience with great food. It was really worth it and I absolutely recommend it. I hope we can visit again!

Book this now!! - My boyfriend and I booked this halfday excursion and we were blown away! The experienced surpassed all of our expectations! We felt at home with our guide and the rest of the staff. There were multiple guides during our horseback riding route to make sure we were safe. The lunch that was cooked for us was soo delicious made fresh and with the best ingredients. We would 1000% recommend this activity for couples or families. Highlight of our trip!!

Unforgettable Experience - A MUST. BOOK NOW. - A MUST. This was hands down the most incredible adventure I have ever been on, on any trip I've ever had. Two friends and I took a trip Memorial Weekend to San Miguel de Allende and we booked this Horse Back riding excursion on Friday morning. This was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. One of those experiences that will stay with you for the rest of my life. Riding through the mountains and canyons outside of San Miguel was the perfect way to unplug, explore, and truly be one with nature. The views were breathtaking, the ride was both peaceful and invigorating, and the entire day was filled with laughter and connection. And that stop for cerveza wasn't bad either. ;)
What made it even more special was the incredible family who runs the tour--warm, welcoming, and genuine. They left an everlasting impression and i can't wait to return and do the tour again with family and other friends who want to go. Their hospitality made us truly feel like we were part of the family and part of something truly authentic. And to top it all off, we were treated to an unforgettable homemade meal that hit the spot after our long tour through the mountains and canyons.
Do yourself a favor and book this tour. I promise you won't regret it.
