A day in the country enjoying an olive oil experience! - This tour was so interesting and delicious. We enjoyed meeting Victor and Susan and hearing their amazing story. They pick you up close to town, you can spend the day playing pickle ball, cooking classes, or swimming in the spring fed pool! We walked the farm and learned all about producing olive oil, then had the pleasure of tasting over twenty different flavors of olive oil! It was a delightful morning and a must see when visiting San Miguel!

Who knew? - Learning so much about the properties and benefits of olive oil was a great benefit. Sharing the life experience of Victor and Susan on their farm was memorable. And tasting a very wide selection of their olive oil over lunch was a bonus. Great way to spend an afternoon.

A Chef inspired East Indian private dinner - It was a beautiful evening out at Victor and Susan’s Finca Luna Serena or translated; ‘Serene Moon Estate’ and it was filled with equally serene and beautiful people. A spectacular East Indian dinner by none other than the incomparable and everyone's favorite, Chef Anthony. He took everyone's palates on a tour around India. I heard one learned and well-traveled guest, David Knoph say, it was some of the best Indian cuisine he’d tasted or words to that affect. It took Susan nearly four hours to prepare all the spices. San Miguel Jack can't resist what he calls ‘the name droppers' column and special mention of, Award-winning Film Producer, David Floeter and his always creative jewelry designer and effervescent, wife Rebecca. The too much fun duo of Scott and Evan. The kindest of souls, Ralph. Cyndee and her hubby the white-haired Bhudda. The always styling, Brenda and Greg, the social scene will surely dim during their winter Marekesh, Palm Desert hiatus. And then there are the migliori quattro amigos Rick, Susan, Tom and Denise. We all had fun playing Victor’s Guess this tv or movie tune, the clear music trivia winner had to be Scott Allison. Back to the dinner (For those foodies who would dare try this at home, the Chef's menu is noted below in detail) The Phantom Gourmet has no choice what's so ever, but to give this night of gastronomic delight 🥄🥄🥄🥄🥄Par excellance ~ vib, atmosphere, service, extraordinary taste, and an overall feeling of, ‘I've just been to the most marvelous party’ ~ an event worthy of high praise😎 The Menu: • Pakoras – Corn or onion fritters that are very popular street foods in India Starter • Samosas – A southern Indian snack of usually triangular pastry with a variety of different fillings. Mains • Palak Paneer – A Punjabi vegetarian dish of spinach pureed with many spices and tomatoes and served with grilled paneer cheese • Murgh Makhani – From Delhi, one of the most popular curries in the world, known also as Butter Chicken. It is a smooth, slightly spicy curry-based dish • Lamb Rogan Josh – A curry from the northern Indian state of Kashmir. Lamb is cooked in a rich, spicy tomato, yogurt curry sauce. Sides • Chana Masala – A stew-like dish in of chickpeas in an onion, and tomato gravy from Punjabi • Jalfrezi – A Bengali dish, meaning “Hot Fried” and is a dish of vegetables stir-fried in a thick spicy sauce. • Jeera Aloo – from western India, a dish of potatoes sauteed with spices and herbs. • Dal – Lentils simmered in ghee, spices, onions, and tomatoes. A classic in every home in India. • Basmati rice • Garlic Naan FLS Chutneys • Menbrillo- quince • Cebolla- onion • Mango Dessert • Nankhatai – from the Gujarat region, shortbread cookies flavored with cardamom, saffron, and nuts served with Haldi Doodh, a hot turmeric milk with spices PS: add a dash of Brandy to this Haldi Doodh and you have the makings of the best hot toddy for a good night's sleep and sweet dreams. Extra perfect afternoon - We enjoyed Victor’s presentation on the the cultivation of olive trees for the production of olive oils and the various methods used to extract the oil from the pulp. We enjoyed the tour of the orchard given by Sue and a lovely lunch prepared to perfection in the quiet of the countryside.

Learn and taste! - This is an interesting venture just outside San Miguel de Allende. The owners will pick you up at the Liberty Mall, which isn't a bad idea. You can taxi it up the Liberty Mall if need be. My group of 4 did the olive tour. We watched a video, got an in class tasting, walked the grounds and then got more samples during the lunch we had. It was a marvelous way to spend a few hours & learn a bit of something. Check out their website as they have classes as well.
