- Calle de la Fortaleza - Once ready, we are going to sit down on the Workshop tables and we will stitch our own traditional espadrilles, and then learn the different ways to lace them up.
- Calle de la Fortaleza - To finish our lovely experience we will open a bottle of champagne, dance, take pictures with our new shoes and have fun!
Each guest will leave with its own creation and with a really cool story to tell to friends, something that it is hardly available to the visitors, not even locals. A wearable memory of your visit to San Juan.

The HANDMADE team have been many years making shoes in their family-owned factories in Spain.
Together with Airbnb and for many years now they have been hosting this very successful workshop in several cities, where they teach how to stitch traditional espadrilles. This unique experience has brought them many nominations in 2019 and 2020 as a must-do in Barcelona, Seville and Puerto Rico, highly recommended in Tripadvisor, New York Times, BuzzFeed, among others.
These artisans are not only experts when it comes to espadrilles, but also fun and entertaining with their anecdotes and stories. The actual workshop turns into a party in most of the cases.
Make sure you are in a HANDMADE location for authentic products and experiences. Success has drawn imitators into the scene, but remember: We don’t follow trends, we create them.

We will have the experience in our workshop in Viejo San Juan, at the HANDMADE THE BRAND® shop, known for artisanal and traditional products. We will have a big space for the guests and we will be surrounded by materials and finished products.

Unique must-do experience - Great investment and wonderful experience with my mom. The instructor Alex was patient, funny, helpful, and very kind. Everyone working in the store was! We had a bottle of champagne to ourselves and a lite snack...and a cute pair of unique Spanish shoes to take home

Such a blast! Great Activity for Girls Trip! - Where to start with this class?!? It was such a blast! My friend and I booked it to celebrate my birthday and we had such a wonderful time. Before booking it my friend was very apprehensive to book because she hated espadrilles. This experience has converted her! She is absolutely in love with her pair and I can't wait to wear mine. Alex, Natalia and the entire staff at Handmade are all such gems and clearly passionate about what they do. They worked their magic educating us on the history of espadrilles but also worked to made sure we walked out of there with something we will love. We even got a quick dance lesson to show off our shoes. The team at Handmade even surprised me with a cake and some champagne to celebrate my birthday :) We both left with wonderful memories and gorgeous shoes. We will happily be back to see our friends and shop some more :)

Totally recommended, fun for the whole family - One of the best experiences I have done. Unique, authentic, local, fun, and you get to keep you keep the shoes to use afterwards! Totally recommended. Champagne was the cherry on top. Don't worry about the difficulty, anyone can do it, they adapt to your level of skills. Go with friends and family!

Delightful experience! - Handmade never deceive you! They truly make magic. I have already participated in other workshops they host in Barcelona and every experience is just lovely and unforgettable :). In this occasion I chose to make my own custom espadrilles. The staff were extremely helpful during the whole process and I couldn't be happier with the final result and the amazing experience me and my friends had the pleasure to live. I’m really looking forward to seeing you again soon!!!!
