Great coffee experience - Great coffee experience. Our knowledgeable guide helped us understand the whole process- from where the plants originated, how they are planted, how harvest occurs, the cleaning process to the roasting.

Unique experience for coffee lovers! - In-depth look at traditional Costa Rican coffee production. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of opportunities to sample different roasts and preparations of coffee. So good we ordered for free delivery to the US.

A novel experience for true coffee lovers. - I'm a specialty coffee lover and this was a great experience. We were welcomed with multiple blends of coffee on arrival, learned a lot about processing, growing, and the coffee economy, then had 6 or 7 blends of coffee to try at the end. For the price, this was a great experience.

Coffee lovers rejoice! - As a coffee lover this was such a great experience! Right when you get in you get to sample different coffee types then another coffee before the tour. Never thought I’d say this…. But for once in my life I had to say no at the end to all the coffee haha! Very generous and nice. The guide Adriana was super sweet and answered all our questions. I enjoyed her presentations of the different coffee beans we could hold and touch and display of machines used. P.s. on the way to the tour we met Jimmy Roman who is an independent tour guide. Jimmy was so sweet, kind and helpful. He helped us with advice on places to go, places to eat and even stopped at breakfast and showed us a cute coffee spot on our way to the tour. I am so glad we met Jimmy and I look forward to booking him on a future tour and also sharing his info with others. Very genuine great guy!!

Really fun experience - I did the more elevated tour that included a private guide to the Volcán Poás national park first, followed afterwards by the coffee tour and tasting at Doka estate. Seeing the Poás volcano was incredible, I cannot recommend enough. Our guide was named Jimmy Roman (hired by Doka estate, he’s an independent guide), and he really made the experience fantastic. He was kind, knowledgeable, and so personable. Seeing an active volcano crater was incredible. Jimmy had a nice car and drove us to the park, and afterwards we stopped for fresh strawberries at a local market. Going back to Costa Rica, I plan to hire him again as a private guide for other parts of the country. The Doka tour was great. Not too slow paced. Got a great overview of how coffee is grown, picked, and made into the beans you buy. I enjoyed tasting all their coffees, delicious! The estate is beautiful and well manicured. Gorgeous plants and flowers everywhere.

If You Like Your Coffee... Oh Baby! - The drive to the plantation itself was very worthwhile as we observed many coffee bean pickers in action. We took the guided tour which started off with a little taste of the goods. Tour very informative and interesting - from plant, harvest and the age-old manufacturing methods still used today. The tour ended at the new and very nice gift shop where sampled what we ended up purchasing. Happy we chose this local plantation for a tour.

Heaven for Coffee Lovers! - As a Coffee Lover, your reviewer was really looking forward to this tours and it was lone of the highlights of our 2 week trip to Costa Rica. From the beautifully laid out grounds with all the wonderful wildlife that CR has to offer, to the excellent & informative guided tour, who would have thought they used a very early form of 'Hydro power' in the preparation of the beans! And yes, there are still dried outside in the sun. Once done, you get a chance to sample the various blends in the large and well stocked gift shop. There is also a large restaurant, serving good food. Highly Recommended.

Great Tour and Lunch of this historical Coffee plantation - This one of the planned activities in our Caravan Costa Rica 8 day tour. The grounds are very nicely done. You sense you are going to see a well run operation. We got the Coffee Tour Experience + Lunch package. 1st we were given an extensive tour the coffee bean and how it is planned, grown and harvested. Then we were given a tour of the washing and sorting machinery that is now a historical relic an cannot be changed. The machinery still works to this day based on a water hydraulic system, very impressive. Everything is still done mostly by hand. The lunch was delicious and well prepared. It was an extremely windy day, seems to be typical of the high altitudes on the mountain where the Doka estate is located. We were to take in the butterfly garden on this property but it was closed for remodeling.

Former Doka coffee drinker. - The included breakfast is cold, basic, and scant. The coffee was excellent. For a number of years I ordeded it on line and was able to check out as a guest. Now you must create an account. Sad I will not be drinking their coffee any longer.

DO NOT BUY THE COFFEE - The tour was great! We loved it so much that we bought coffee in the gift shop. We took advantage of their offer of free shipping. That was February 18th. Over a month later, our coffee has not arrived. I emailed asking for an update on my order last week. They responded right away saying it was a supply issue that was resolved and my order was being shipped that day. However, they were unable to provide a tracking number. A week later, they stopped responding to my emails and I still don't have my coffee. Dealing with this has ruined my experience.
