Definitely worth it! - Guide was friendly and knowledgeable! Horseback riding in the light rain ended up being fun and didn’t take long to dry 😀

Great experience! Big Day! - Carla knows her stuff! She picked us up from our hotel, got us breakfast at the French bakery, then had us on our horses. She showed us Howler monkeys and different fruit on the property. Then we went to the Mayan ruins and she unloaded all sorts of knowledge on us. The ladies at the chocolate making were really nice. It was a fast class but really neat to try the raw fruit. Thanks for the great day!

Do this when in San Ignacio! - Best experience of our time spent in San Ignacio! Not too long or early. Horses were beautiful. Scenery was stunning. Temples were incredible and chocolate was delicious. Also St Leonard’s Tours was so easy and organized. Carla was our guide and she was great - so knowledgeable and passionate about Belize :) highly recommend this experience!

Amazing experience - We did this tour with Mr. Juan. He is a fabulous guide with a plethora of knowledge about not only the history of the Mayans and the beautiful country of Belize but also the plants and animals of Belize. We rode horses through the farm, into the jungle, and along the river. The scenery was spectacular! My most favorite part of the entire trip was horseback riding amongst the cattle (I love cows). We then went to Xunantunich and afterwards we had a delicious lunch at a local restaurant called Benny’s. We then headed to San Ignacio to make chocolate. It was an amazing experience! I highly recommend Mr. Juan and St. Leonard’s tours.

Must do tour!! - **If you ever go to Belize this is a must-do tour!!** My husband and I have been to 14 countries together going on multiple tours on each trip. Carla was my favorite tour guide we have ever had the pleasure of learning from. It was raining a bit during horseback riding and Carla intentionally gave me a helmet with a long brim to keep the rain off my glasses. This was my first time riding in over 10 years, so she allowed me to ride Moses, who was the best horse! I was able to guide him on the trail with minute changes to avoid tree branches and leaves. I absolutely loved Moses. We went horseback riding through the jungle where our she pointed out all kinds of plants and talked about their medicinal purposes. She took several pictures of us at photogenic spots. I also really appreciated Carla using my camera so I didn’t have to wait for pictures. After horseback riding we visited Cahal Pech to see Mayan ruins. The original plan was to see Xunantunich, but after several days of heavy rainfall it was closed. I must once again sing Carla’s praises for this. Many tours I have been on have canceled tours, only done partial tours, or have credit for rebooking. Not Carla! She was able to adapt her plan to accommodate the situation and ensure we were able to see everything we could. We got super lucky and this part of our tour ended up being just us! Carla taught us so much about the Mayan people and their culture. Our tour guide was not only a wonderful guide, but also a wonderful person. My husband suffered an injury a few weeks before our trip. We didn’t point it out to her, but she noticed his discomfort and did everything she could to help. She was so kind to my husband and very empathetic about his injury taking the walk very slowly and making decisions with him at the front of her mind. Lunch with Carla at a local seafood restaurant was not only good food, but good company. The tour ended with a chocolate making class where we went from fruit all the way to a cup of hot chocolate. Super fun! They also have a small shop and sell some chocolate goods. Make sure to take home some cocoa powder for the baker in your life! It tastes way better than Hershey’s, Ghirardelli’s, or even Droste’s!

10 out of 10 experience. 100% recommend! - Carla was a great guide and made us feel comfortable during our whole ride with the horses. We loved the chocolate making experience and the food we had for lunch was delicious. Although we were able to visit the ruins due to a lot of rain in the area, she still made sure to make the best of it. A must-do tour!

A Full, Memorable Day of Fun - This was a great experience. They picked us up from a resort and we had great conversation the whole drive to our location. We rode horses and saw a gorgeous Riverside scenery. Later, we got an in-depth tour of the ruins. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging. We enjoyed a meal together in San Ignacio then went for a chocolate making experience. It was interesting hearing the history and then tasting the delicious dark chocolate. All together, a full day of fun with great people. Highly recommend!

Amazing day, awesome tour guides - This was a great tour! We started with a lovely, relaxed ride through the St. Leonard’s farm with Rod, the owner of the farm. This place is gorgeous. Rod stopped to show us the allspice tree and he let us chew on one of the leaves. He taught us about several native plants in the area and how Mayans used some of them. After our horseback ride Rod drove us up to Xunantunich and he gave us a great tour with so much information. The site was so beautiful. We climbed up to the top of the temple and had great views all around. Rod was with us the whole way and so informative. When we returned to St. Leonard’s, Carla took us to an amazing restaurant for lunch. She was fun to talk to and also shared so much about Belize as well as the ancient Mayan culture. She went above and beyond and walked through the market with us and showed us how to choose ripe tropical fruits. And then she took so to Ajaw for the chocolate tour. That was so cool - we got to try cocoa beans at each stage of the process - from fresh cocoa beans to dried, roasted beans. We got to try crushing them on a metate to make a chocolate paste and we got to try Mayan hot chocolate. Such a fun day and our guides were fantastic. If we’re ever back in Belize we’ll definitely do another tour with St. Leonard’s.
