Reasons to join the SF: Food + History + Art Tour?

Cuisine: The Chinese in the 1850’s, Italians in the early 1900s, and recent influx of people from India, Vietnam, and Thailand over the past five decades have all influenced our food scene. Not to mention contributions from Latin America and Japan! The Mission District offers a diverse and delicious selection of food.

Past: The intriguing history of San Francisco is unveiled during our tour. We commence at the origin of modern SF, providing a broad overview of the city’s timeline. From its early days under the Spanish Empire, to its time as part of Mexico, the gold rush period, its rebirth after the colossal fire, through its current transformation.

Creativity: San Francisco is home to some extraordinary art pieces. The Mission District, however, stands as arguably the city’s top destination for public murals. Our tour includes a visit to the Clarion Alley Mural Project, along with a chance to appreciate mesmerizing street art like at the Women’s Building.

Castro & Mission Nooks and Crannies - This was such an interesting deep dive into both the Castro and Mission neighborhoods, for which we luckily had an incredibly sunny warm summer day. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, having grown up in the area, and pointed out not only historical places, but beautiful murals, homes in both areas, and fun nooks and crannies (like hidden stairways to streets) that we never would have seen on our own. We definitely came away with much more of an appreciation for the Castro and Mission ( love Dolores Park!), and will seek out other neighborhoods on our next trip!

Great afternoon activity - My wife and I did the Castro to the mission tour. We eat some great food and learnt some cool history. We'd definitely recommend the company to anyone visiting San Francisco. The guide was really nice and helpful with suggestions on other things to do during our stay.
