Spud is THE MAN! - This food tour is well worth the money and exercise! If you’re lucky enough to get Spud, you’ve hit a gold mine. He was super informative, friendly, funny and was very considerate of my fiancé’s food allergy. I would highly recommend for tourists and locals. This food tour was definitely one of our trips best highlights. Don’t forget to eat the onion buns while they’re fresh and hot and the spicy noods are a spicy food persons dream. BOOK SPUD NOW!

Incredibly informative and delicious 😋 - Michael M was an outstanding tour guide. We learned so much about Chinatown and its history. The food was delicious. I only wish that we could live closer because I could eat this food every week. I highly recommend this food tour. You won't be disappointed.

A Fond Experience in the Best Tour of China Town-USA Family w 12yo Twins (boy/girl picky eaters) - My husband, 12year old (boy/girl) twins, and I took this tour while visiting San Francisco for Spring Break. We shared the tour with a friendly and fun German family (Dad, Mum, 12yo, 15yo) who we had the best conversations with throughout the tour. Isabella was our kind, informative, engaging, and generous guide. She taught us about local history, culture, religion, food, housing, and much much more. We met her at the main gated entrance where she greeted us with warm onion rolls; a rightfully awarded top food in the area. Isabella took us to multiple spots throughout China Town such as (not limited to): -- common tourist favorite spots like the Fortune Cookie Factory, --not-so common spots like the local community garden/space, Buddhist temple, and Buddhism store where we picked up Joshua paper (a really neat practice where you buy an item like money-shoes-clothes-house made of paper, burn it and it sends it to the intended deceased person in the after life), --and exclusive entry to spots like Jade Chocolates (highly awarded and rightfully so after tasting!) even though they were closed. We were provided private access by the owner to Jade, where we were offered samples and the ability to make purchases of the beautiful offerings. This special access was available because of Isabella's relationship with these owners and shops along the whole tour. --She took us to a traditional bakery where we received special award winning moon pies to sample, --a traditional restaurant where we had the most amazing spicy green beans (not spicy just flavorful, and the most popular provider of this dish in the area), gyoza, shumai, and Peking duck (a treat reserved for special guests), --following with a private seating for tea at Vital Tea where we received valuable education on the health benefits of different teas, how to properly make them to maximize benefit, as well as a personalized tea recommendation and tasting for your individual health needs (think diabetes, metabolism, etc.) and a visit with local celebrity Uncle Gee -- and ended with a full meal at another restaurant of lo-mien, gyoza, and other tasty items. Isabella makes sure she orders enough food to your hunger level. Our entire family, even our persnickety eater, enjoyed this tour from the culture immersion, the point outs of great spots like the Kim & Ono store who have sale kimonos for less than $20 to high eld 100% silk kimonos, to best eateries to try later like House of Nan King. This small family business provides the unique and personalized treatment you are hoping for. We don't recommend often, but this was worth a review and recommendation for others to have such a wonderful experience as we did. Thank you to Isabella and Sidewalk Food Tours of San Francisco for such a memorable experience our children and family will share at the holiday dinner table year after year!

A great time! - We had a really excellent Chinatown food tour with Jinny P yesterday, although it was so much more, as Jinny is so knowledgeable about Chinatown, and San Francisco in general. The food was outstanding, tho pace yourself as you do get very full, and gravity is not your friend with a full stomach on some of the hills! Highlights food-wise were the amazing baked pork buns right at the start, and the incredible dim sum at Hang Ah, where they also had very friendly waiters. So, thoroughly recommend this tour, and Jinny was so great we are thinking it would be fun to do some of the other tours offered with her.

Ted B gave us a memorable food and history experience of Chinatown - Ted B was a wonderful tour guide. We’ve done a lot of food tours and he is one of the best guides we ever had! He has a great presentation style that draws you into the history of Chinatown and San Francisco. He was engaging and got to know everyone on the tour. We had a variety of delicious food. With the hills, the tour was well paced so that there was some walking then some talking then some food.
