Additional Information

The origin of Sparkling Wine goes back to the 17th century in France, thanks to a monk named Dom Pierre Pérignon who began cultivating grapes. In 1729, the longstanding Champagne house Ruinart was established and began distributing its effervescent liquor in 1764.

The unique style quickly became a favorite among the French and English aristocracy. By 1745, Moët & Chandon became the official supplier to a European royal court, specifically the court of King Louis XV.

In the year 1772, Veuve Clicquot was founded. Notably, Madame Clicquot developed the method of riddling to eliminate yeast following the secondary fermentation, thereby inventing the traditional champenoise method.

Since the mid-1800s, Sparkling wines have been produced in California’s Golden State.
