Additional Information

This is the most thrilling, fun, and informative way to explore San Francisco - the premiere GPS-guided storytelling vehicle! The smart talking car does the navigation and directs you to the sights that make San Francisco vibrant. Discover what’s making headlines, what visitors are enthusing over, and what Time Magazine has appointed ‘as one of the year’s coolest inventions’.

  • GoCar’s hold a maximum of 2 people. Prices are per GoCar - not per person.
  • Passengers must be 4 years of age or older - and small children must safely fit into one of our DOT approved helmets. The GoCar is registered as a motorcycle - but a motorcycle license is not required to operate the vehicle.
  • What is a CDW?
  • No, but the tour will navigate you to Fort Point. Here the bridge soars about 200-feet above your head. It is possible to gain pedestrian access to the bridge span from the car park at the bridge vantage point.
  • On the day of rental, a $500 security deposit will be held on the customer’s credit card. If a CDW or SLI insurance plan is selected, a $300 security deposit will be held. The security deposit is released when the GoCar is returned.
  • Absolutely not! If there is a San Francisco sight you wish to see but is not yet included on the tour, just use the map provided to navigate your own way through the city streets. You can even put a CD in the stereo and enjoy music along the way!
  • Pickup location must be chosen at time of booking. This is the location where your GoCar will be reserved
  • Can you stop along the way?
  • Do you have to stay on the tour?
  • Can you cross the Golden Gate Bridge?
  • All renters must be able to read, understand and sign a liability release and waiver form (standard participant agreement)
  • Foreign language options are available in French, Spanish, Italian and German
  • Up to 35-mph. Note that drivers in San Francisco do not typically drive fast, therefore an average speed of 30-mph or less can be expected while driving.
  • Yes, you set your own pace. The car always knows where you are and you can park anywhere you want (motorcycle parking or car parking) for as long as you want, and as soon as you start to drive again, the car will begin to talk!
  • For the safety and comfort of passengers the maximum height is 6’4” (1.9m) and maximum combined weight of 500 lbs (226.8 kg) for two passengers
  • How fast does the car go?
  • Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is an optional form of insurance similar to rental car insurance that limits your liability in case of accident. It is non-refundable. If you opt to purchase the CDW your deposit for rented a GoCar is only USD$300.00 instead of USD$500.00
  • Vehicles:
  • Are controlled with a motorcycle-style handle, throttle, and hand brakes. The 3-wheeled cars seat two and have a lockable trunk for your things. Their small size makes parking a breeze, and in San Francisco - a major bonus!
  • Driver must be 21 years or older to rent and must provide a major credit card and valid driver’s license at the time of check-in. A driver’s license must be in the customer’s physical possession (no photocopy). For foreign customer’s, an international license is not necessary.

Super Fun! - It was a super fun way to see/hear all the iconic places in SF. It takes you to all the nooks and crannies of SF. You can stop & park as often as you want. It was very easy to use and felt very safe. The other cars were respectful and often gave us the right of way. Staff was great and made it very fast and casual check-in & out. We did all day but I think a 2-4 hour could be enough. After a while we stopped stopping at each site. Be advices is chilly day you should bring mittens and jacket. You wear a helmet so no beanies.

You gotta do this! Best way to experience San Francisco! - Had a great time! Great way to see so many parts of the city that we never would have seen just driving around on our own. It was fun having an audio guide telling us what we were seeing. One day is probably not enough!

Unforgettable November GoCar Tour - Embarking on a self-guided GoCar tour in chilly November through San Francisco with my awesome driver, Luis, was an absolute thrill! We explored the city's highlights, and even though it was a bit chilly, the excitement kept us warm. The adventure unforgettable! 🛵🌁 #GoCarAdventure #SonAsDriver #SFExploration

Zipping around SF - Such a fun way to get around the city and see everything! When you want to hop out, parking is easy in this little go car. The guided tour was great at sharing history, stories as well as options and suggestions for shopping and eating. Would definitely do this again on our next visit to the city!

Great Experience - It was a great experience. We had the full-day package. The check-in was smooth. Training video (@ 4-minutes) was clear. The guided tour (directional pad and voice directions and descriptions of different sites) was very good - it worked well, was informational and entertaining. The vehicle operated well and bringing in for a refill on gas went smoothly as well. The only surprise (for me) was the amount of pressure needed for the throttle and the loudness of the engine, but after 5-minutes, we were used to it, so no issues at all. We were able to see all of SF in a fun way.

Our Favorite San Francisco activity - This is the BEST thing to do while visiting San Francisco! My wife and I opted for the all day rental. Everyone should do the all day. We saw pretty much most of San Francisco, and had a recorded tour guide all along the way. We saw more of the city than is on the tour, but thats because we got lost a lot and kept going off-course. This is not the fault of Gocar. The cars tell you exactly where to go every step of the way. We just arent good at following directions. Lol. Its pretty difficult, however, to get very lost in San Francisco. The city is not that large. We had our Gocar from mirning until evening. Just driving it is a blast. Getting to see most of the San Francisco attractions and having them explained is a bonus. I highly recommend this tour. It might look a bit pricey but is well worth the price and the staff members are all incredibly friendly and helpful.

Fun cars, bit damaged and out dated but still good fun - This was even more fun than i imagined. You get to drive in a convertible-ish go cart and enjoy all the sights up close. it takes ab it to get used to the controls, and unfortunately the u-turn is near impossible and it has no reverse but you get over that. the cars were more dated and damaged than the pictures show (we even lost a mirror on the way) but still lots of fun to drive these little things. you may want to take the all day package as it takes a good time to get around due to traffic and as you want to stop and take pictures every 5 minutes. a Must Do when you are in SF
