Additional Information

Experience San Francisco like never before with the first-ever storytelling car guided by GPS! This intelligent narrating vehicle takes you where tour buses can’t reach, spotlighting the iconic landmarks that make San Francisco vibrant. Discover why the media is buzzing, why tourists are thrilled and Time Magazine has recognized it as ‘one of the most innovative inventions of the year’.

  • What is a CDW?
  • Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is an optional form of insurance similar to rental car insurance that limits your liability in case of accident. It is non-refundable. If you opt to purchase the CDW your deposit for rented a GoCar is only USD$300 instead of USD$500
  • GoCar’s hold a maximum of 2 people. Prices are per GoCar - not per person.
  • Can you cross the Golden Gate Bridge?
  • No, but the tour will navigate you to Fort Point. Here the bridge soars about 200-feet above your head. It is possible to gain pedestrian access to the bridge span from the car park at the bridge vantage point.
  • All renters must be able to read, understand and sign a liability release and waiver form (standard participant agreement)
  • Yes, you set your own pace. The car always knows where you are and you can park anywhere you want (motorcycle parking or car parking) for as long as you want, and as soon as you start to drive again, the car will begin to talk!
  • Do you have to stay on the tour?
  • Are controlled with a motorcycle-style handle, throttle, and hand brakes. The 3-wheeled cars seat two and have a lockable trunk for your things. Their small size makes parking a breeze, and in San Francisco - a major bonus!
  • Pickup location must be chosen at time of booking. This is the location where your GoCar will be reserved
  • On the day of rental, a $500 security deposit will be held on the customer’s credit card. If a CDW or SLI insurance plan is selected, a $300 security deposit will be held. The security deposit is released when the GoCar is returned.
  • Vehicles:
  • For the safety and comfort of passengers the maximum height is 6’4” (1.9m) and maximum combined weight of 500 lbs (226.8 kg) for two passengers
  • Passengers must be 4 years of age or older - and small children must safely fit into one of our DOT approved helmets. The GoCar is registered as a motorcycle - but a motorcycle license is not required to operate the vehicle.
  • Foreign language options are available in French, Spanish, Italian and German
  • Up to 35-mph. Note that drivers in San Francisco do not typically drive fast, therefore an average speed of 30-mph or less can be expected while driving.
  • Absolutely not! If there is a San Francisco sight you wish to see but is not yet included on the tour, just use the map provided to navigate your own way through the city streets. You can even put a CD in the stereo and enjoy music along the way!
  • How fast does the car go?
  • Can you stop along the way?
  • Driver must be 21 years or older to rent and must provide a major credit card and valid driver’s license at the time of check-in. A driver’s license must be in the customer’s physical possession (no photocopy). For foreign customer’s, an international license is not necessary.

3-hour tour a must do! - So fun! Got to see all the highlights of San Fran at our own pace. The GPS worked flawlessly and we were able to stop at all the key points for photos. A must do! It was chilly in the morning so bring a jacket if you go earlier!

Gocars are easy, family fun! - The staff was super friendly and very informative. Gocars is the best and easiest way to see so many places in San Francisco You could never walk that much, ride your bike or even drive in the amount of time we did in the gocar. It was a fun, family experience!

What a fun way to see the city! - This was a lot of fun! We got to see so much of the city. The cars were easy to use. I was concerned that I might feel too small in the vehicle, but we all felt very safe in them. They maneuvered well through traffic. The GPS tour was easy to use and had good information. I highly recommend a tour with this company!

So much fun - So much fun! Highly recommend. We saw some excellent sights. I think it is a much better way to see things than a bus tour. The Go cars are very easy to drive.

Had a blast in our GoCar in San Francisco - We had a great time. We unfortunately somehow missed a turn and ended up at the bottom of Lombard St. which we really wanted to drive down.

New experience to take a city tour - Interesting and cool way to explore the city at your own pace. Traffic in SFO is pretty relaxed and we had no problems at all - consideration is a life story here. Audio guide/"ipad" worked perfectly and provided interesting details. I'd be happy to go again

Great experience BUT - Great experience Fantastic tour with clear road description We did a 3 hours trip According to Gocars it was a 2 hours trip with 1 hour of site seeing That was not true ; to finish the trip in 3 hours you can’t stop on every spot But for the rest it was a super experience

GoCars San Francisco - After selecting the 3 hour golden gate tour and participating in a basic briefing we were off. From feeling apprehensive about driving on San Francisco roads (on the opposite side for us) this was an easy and super fun way to see San Francisco. A helpful navigation system ensured you always knew where you were with plenty of interesting facts and opportunities to stop and enjoy. We had such a great time enjoying the stop options- three hours just wasn’t long enough.

See the "real" San Francisco from a different perspective. - The views were amazing, we were able to access areas that would have been more difficult by car. It was fun to ride in the GoCar and feel the wind on my face. The GPS guidance map was easy to use. The only problem we had was that the engine sound was loud so we had some difficulty hearing the GPS guidance when it was telling us the information. Be aware, the two-seater GoCar option is a low riding vehicle, and pretty cozy with two small/average build adults inside. If you have trouble sitting down low, or climbing in and out, it may not be comfortable for you. You have the option to get out and visit some of the sites. This is a unique experience, if you can make the time for it.
