Launched in 1934, Cloudia stands as an elegantly restored, less common example of a traditional Norwegian double-ended ketch. The creation of Cloudia was influenced by the original plans of renowned naval engineer, Colin Archer (1832-1921), originating from Larvik, Norway, being a Listerskøyte. The top-sail ketch is recognized for its resilience and safety. The renowned Fram, engineered and built by Archer’s shipyard, took part in multiple North Pole ventures and later backed Roald Amundsen’s groundbreaking journey to the South Pole. The Cloudia is furnished as a topsail ketch in either British or American layout, signifying it holds 2 two-piece masts enabling it to manage more sail than a standard Norwegian rig with shorter, solid masts. The primary mast of Cloudia stretches to a height of 85 feet stirring in the top-jack. A variety of timber was used in the assembly of the ship, encompassing Norwegian white oak, sapele hardwood, Douglas fir, Alaskan yellow cedar, along with Ipe Brazilian hardwood.
