Día perfecto - Un día inolvidable, y la guía fue buena y honesta. El cañón es majestuoso y muy impresionante. Muchas gracias. (I am American but speak Spanish and the tour was completely in Spanish; I’m not sure how much translation there would or would not have been if I did not.)

best tour company in SCLC - cannot recommend enough. we went on two tours with this company and both were exceptional. on the first tour (06.01) i became sick and needed to leave early. our driver was incredibly understanding and drove us until we located a colectivo back to SCLC and explained the route. the next tour of the canyon (07.01) was breathtaking and our driver (edgar) was equally impressive. we had a great time, the drivers were always on time and ready to help. this tour company was the cheapest we found in SCLC and incredibly reliable. shout out!

Do Not Miss This! - About 1 hour from San Cristobal. We booked our sightseeing with a tour (private) company called ITZAA. It was 4 of us and were picked up at 9:00 am, stopped for some coffee and arrived to the river. The river tour is not private, boats leave every 15 minutes. 2 hour tour of the river, it’s magical, a must, and not to be missed. After we stopped at a small town called Chiapa de Corzo (which you can also depart from. Looks like the boats leaving from this area are not packed like the ones we took.

For adventure seekers! - Jalapeńo Tours made our experience even MORE memorable. Cańon del Sumidero is a fun trip for those seek adventure and appreciate nature. Venturing through the canon feels like you are going way back in time. We got to see huge iguanas, crocodiles, and monkeys. Savor every moment, because you are bound to miss something you've never seen in person before.

Spectacular gorge, I didn't realise there were crocodiles in there until we got up close and personal - Despite the crocs it is very safe, and a very spectacular trip, well worth it. Take the sunscreen as it gets warm out there, and keep your fingers out of the water. Only dissapointment was they need to start getting on top of the rubbish problem as there are a few spots in there which are tainted by the rubbish.

Perfect customer service - We booked a tour to the Canon using TripAdvisors Viatour. Despite we were there 15 minutes in advance and waited for an hour the bus didn't show up and the company it was arranged with didn't pick up the phone. We went to the office of Jalapeño tours and asked if he could book us this tour for the next day because all the busses for that day already left. The staff helped us out really well! We did not have to pay for the tour and they said they were gonna arrange this with the company we originally booked with. They booked us the tour for the next day and within an hour we got a text from the other tour operater apologizing for the mistake. Perfect customer service even though we didn't even book it there in the first place. Thank you! All of this was handled by someone who could speak perfect English so don't worry about a language barrier.

Worthwhile day trip - I thought that this was a great day trip. Not too much driving like some of the other tours. Everything was punctual and ran smoothly. I was told when I booked that the lookouts were closed on Tuesday but we did stop at lookouts, which were beautiful. It is very hot on the boat and in Chiapas de Corzo. We saw crocodiles and monkeys. We had time for lunch and shopping before returning to San Cristobal. Be aware that most drivers don’t speak any English so it is useful to have some Spanish or you can ask other people on the bus to confirm times for you.

Well-run day trip to a beautiful canyon - The Canyon is spectacular and the tour was well-run by Jalapeno tours. The only downside is the place that we stopped for lunch was absolutely terrible with high prices. Jalapeno tours has an office in the center of St.Christobal (open until 9pm) where you can book the tours in person for about half the price.

It doesn't matter - Don't stress about which travel agency to book your tour. You will almost certainly be on a tour conducted by a tour operator with other folk who have booked through various agencies. And when you get on the boat you will again be mixed with other groups.

Don’t go if you don’t speak Spanish - We didn’t know the guide only spoke Spanish, so we missed out on the majority of the info. The minibus was small and had no airconditioning. It was a very long drive, so that was not a pleasant experience. The canyon and viewpoints are beautiful, but you might as well book the boat tour by yourself. During the boat trip we stopped several times to look at monkeys, crocodiles, and nature. The canyon is stunning. The boat dropped us off in Chiapa da Corzo, which is very touristy and in our case: extremely hot. So we couldn’t wait to leave again. It was hard to find a place to eat that was not selling burgers. Would recommend visiting the canyon, but if you don’t speak Spanish I don’t recommend this tour.
