Recommended coffee and choxolste tour - This was a last minute consideration for "something to do" on a trip to La Fortuna while staying at Eco Arenal. The online booking was easy and seamless . We got there early as we walked up from the hotel and had time to go to the gift shop. A good selection of souvenirs as well as chocolate and coffee products. It was time for the tour and our wonderful, knowledgeable and funny guide ( sorry cannot remember his name) led the small group through an educational 2 hour tour to learn about growing cacao. We ground our own nibs/ seeds and handcrafted our own chocolate bars which were hardened in the freezer and giving to us to take home with us. Then onto "coffee" growing and detailed production ( once again interactive). Upon end of tour we entered gift shop where there was free samples of coffee and hot chocolate we had learned about . There were also samples during tour. Good time had by all! We also saw 2 sloths during the tour as an added bonus. The tour has covered walkways throughout. One recommendation is to definitely bring insect repellent!

Unforgettable - We had an amazing time learning about how chocolate and coffee are made. It blew my mind seeing what the inside of a cacao fruit looks like and getting a chance to make my own chocolate bar. GiGi was a fantastic guide and made the experience even better by pointing out multiple sloths and a hummingbird and by letting us smell cinnamon bark. His passion for the flora and fauna of beautiful La Fortuna made this an unforgettable experience.

Chocolate & Coffee oh my!! - Gigi was the very best guide!!! It was so informative and he answered any questions our small group had along the way. We even got to make our own chocolate "bar" to take home! Great way to learn a bit more about the local coffee & chocolate and have some fun!!!

Coffee and chocolate - This is a great tour. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and provided us with a tremendous amount of background information. Then, to be able to see the process of coffee and chocolate production from the plant to product, and to be actively involved in it, was truly fun and fascinating. Great tour! A ‘not to miss’ one

A hands-on, fun, educational, and tasty chocolate tour - An entertaining and very well presented exposition of how chocolate is made, spanning from plant pollination to tasting the chocolate you make yourself. Our guide was accommodating and helpful. The gift shop was a pleasant surprise.

Cacao tour with Maria - We felt very comfortable with María who not only explained to us the chocolate production process but also presented various plants and even birds that come to the garden full of “delicacies”. Thank you and pure life! PS: The chocolate that Leo made was actually very delicious…. in case you continue hiring….:)

Make your own chocolate - The tour guide was excellent and provided us with a lot of information about the coffee and chocolate making process. It was fun to actually make our own chocolate. It would have been fun to see the actual plantation and see the workers while working. The tour was mostly shown and explained at small stations. Still a fun activity in La Fortuna!

Good experience - We had a good experience with our tour but I was expecting to walk by the chocolate and coffee plants and experience picking them off the tree but we didn’t. We saw some wildlife animals including a sloth. Overall it was good and educational.

One of the worst guides in all of our travels - The facilities and the property are great! However, we must have happened into one of the least engaging guides on a bad day for the 4pm coffee & chocolate tour on Apr 30. The guide was visibly not interested at all in sharing information about coffee or chocolate and was not helpful in the least when making our own chocolate. Again, not sure if this was just an off day or he doesn't like his job, but he was ready to get off of work. Unfortunately, we didn't learn much more than what we already knew. I could see this tour being great with the right guide.
