Highlights
  • Salt Evaporation Pond - Drive through the salt fields of Samut Sakhon province
  • Coconut Sugar Farm - Stop and see the fabrication process of coconut sugar, taste the natural candies. Enjoy the wild orchil presentation
  • Damnoen Saduak Floating Market - Embark aboard your long-tail speed-boat on your journey to the Damnern Saduak floating markets. The floating markets are a fascinating experience, a complete contrast to how we shop for food in the west and are made up of Thai style canoes laden with colorful and succulent fruits, vegetables, sweets, and meats - gently plying their way through the canal, selling as they go. It is one of the most popular Thai sightseeing experiences and not to be missed. If you want to take a closer look your local Thai guide will help you organize a local boat ride through the markets (optional extra).
  • River Kwai - You will then board your coach for the journey west to Kanchanaburi, home to the River Kwai and it’s infamous bridge
  • JEATH War Museum - Lunch will be taken at a local restaurant before visiting the bridge after visiting the JEATH war museum, which houses pictures and paintings from this period
  • Kanchanaburi War Cemetery - Visit The War Cemetery of the Prisoners of War of the WWII
  • Bridge Over the River Kwai - The building of the bridge in 1943 was part of a wartime project to link existing Thai and Burmese railway lines to create a direct route from Bangkok, Thailand to Rangoon, Burma (now Myanmar) in an effort to support the Japanese occupation of Burma. Over 100,000 conscripted laborers and 12,000 prisoners of war died during the whole project.

The Past in the Present - Having watched the film with my Dad several times, it's a place I wanted to visit - Bridge on River Kwai (both for my departed Dad and myself). I was not disappointed. History was brought to light - I felt a sense of peace, I was moved but the images of the Men who fought for peace and freedom, something we take for granted. I felt tormented by the suffering in the images and the realisation that humans can be so cruel. I event felt like an intruder myself when walking on the bridge but I know without those brave people we would not have the luxury of freedom. If anything, it gave me the opportunity to pay my respects and whisper a "Thank you" for their bravery and sacrifice. A true historic place! One of the things I wanted to see most was the floating markets (as I'd heard so much about it). I wasn't disappointed at all. I loved the buzz of the tourists and locals as they bartered and tried to get a sale from boats passing by. If you've never experienced a waterways traffic jam then this will be your first! A must experience.

Awesome day tour - Starting from a late booking we expected some possible problems. There were none! Tum Tum our guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable, entertaining, and professional she helped us have an incredible day. We were unable to call and confirm our booking as we were flying and then confirmed through email after hours but still received a response assuring us everything was fine and what time to expect pick up from our hotel. Throughout our tour Tum Tum was able to answer our questions and provided insights along the way on Thai local history, foods, people and places and of course the attraction areas themselves. Absolutely amazing adventure made even better by an expert guide, thank you!

Floating Markets and Bridge on River Kwai Tour in Bangkok - This is one of those trips that will last a life time. Peter, our guide, was very knowledgeable and savvy about the whole trip. We started early to avoid the crowds by going to a coconut stand where we were shown and explained everything about coconuts. The Floating Markets were exceptional and awesome! DO this tour when in Bangkok, you won't regret it. It was a great and memorable experience. The shopping when we got off the boat was also good and very reasonable. You must bargain a little. Lastly, the River Kwai itself was very interesting to see and be part of history. Will do both again! Lunch was also included.

Chance to see the Thai way of living - We visited the floating markets, it was interesting to see how the floating markets operated and to see Thai people actually cooking on the floating boats. We would recommend you go on the rowing boats to get a full experience of the floating markets. The visit to the bridge over the river Kwai was ok, nice to see where the film was made and to walk along the bridge. The museum was disappointing, it was just a walking way filled with photographs and pictures. The guide was very pleasant throughout the trip, giving us plenty of information about the places visits and about Thailand in general. The one downside was the amount of time spent on a minibus, but I expect that in the places visited. At least the minibus was clean and comfortable

Private Tour to Floating market and River Kwai - Please be aware this tour DOES NOT include a visit to the Thailand Railway Museum near the cemetery, our guide told us it might be closed and was not at all interested in us going. The Jeath Museum is interesting but most of the photos have badly faded and there is very little information. So the museum you need is the Thailand Railway Museum, which I visited several years ago and made the long journey from Bangkok worthwhile. My friends were very disappointed in this tour and it was expensive. Guide’s English not that clear and didn’t offer much information. Lunch is buffet style but not the best, kept warm not hot. Driver however was excellent. Do research carefully before you book a trip.

A day at the floating market and the River Kwai - If you are looking for a way to see the floating markets and the river Kwai as an independent traveler who is looking for a way to get there then this is the tour for you. Our tour guide did not spend a lot of time on giving us any information on the market or on anything else. I would say this was one of the more disappointing tours that I have been on. This turned out to be a four bus transfer from Bangkok to the floating market to Kwai and back again. This tour, in my opinion, is nothing but a transportation service thinking it is otherwise will leave you very disappointed.
